Today we&#8217;re going to take a look at the idiomatic uses of the verb <strong>dare<\/strong> (to give). Here&#8217;s a list of the most common ones with some practical examples of how we use them:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">1.<\/span> dare per <\/strong>(<strong>certo\/perso\/morto\/ecc.<\/strong>) = to consider, to presume, to give up for: <strong>grazie per aver ritrovato i miei occhiali, ormai li avevo dati per persi<\/strong> = thank you for finding my glasses, by now I had considered them lost; Ok! but then go and play somewhere else!<\/span><\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">3.<\/span> dare un&#8217;occhiata<\/strong> = to have\/take a look: <strong>puoi dare un&#8217;occhiata ai freni della mia bicicletta?<\/strong> = can you have\/take a look at my bicycle brakes?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">4.<\/span> dare la colpa<\/strong> = to blame <em>(literally: to give the guilt)<\/em>: <strong>quando succede qualcosa danno sempre la colpa a me!<\/strong> = when something happens they always blame it on me!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">5.<\/span><\/strong> <strong>dare aria<\/strong> = to air, to vent: <strong>quanto fumo! apri le finestre e dai aria alla stanza<\/strong> = so much smoke! open the windows and air the room<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">6.<\/span><\/strong> <strong>dare la mano<\/strong> = to hold hands, to shake hands: <strong>ricordati di dare la mano a tua sorella quando attraversi la strada<\/strong> = remember to hold your sister&#8217;s hand when you cross the road;
