{"id":12394,"date":"2016-08-31T09:00:32","date_gmt":"2016-08-31T07:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/?p=12394"},"modified":"2016-08-31T11:09:46","modified_gmt":"2016-08-31T09:09:46","slug":"la-terra-trema","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/la-terra-trema\/","title":{"rendered":"La Terra Trema!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333399\">The deadly earthquake which wreaked havoc in central Italy on the 24<sup>th<\/sup> of August can teach us as much about Italian culture as it can about Italy\u2019s geophysical qualities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12412\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/08\/sisma9076-001.jpg\" alt=\"sisma9076-001\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/08\/sisma9076-001.jpg 800w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/08\/sisma9076-001-350x197.jpg 350w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/08\/sisma9076-001-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">On the one hand we&#8217;ve witnessed the incredible solidarity and determination to help in any way possible which has emerged from a normally parochial and divided population.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">On the other we are left asking ourselves why, in Europe\u2019s most earthquake prone territory, an area with a long history of seismic disasters (this isn\u2019t the first time that Amatrice has been wiped from the map), did so many people have to die beneath the rubble of buildings that simply weren\u2019t adequately reinforced to withstand the shock waves?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This latter is a question that I encourage you to investigate for yourselves. What\u2019s needed is a clear vision for the future, together with the political will to bring that vision to fruition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The vision certainly isn\u2019t lacking, as world famous Italian architect <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Renzo_Piano\" target=\"_blank\">Renzo Piano<\/a><\/strong><\/span> demonstrates in the following post earthquake interview. Try to read the interview in Italian and we&#8217;ll publish the full English translation on Friday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00abSiamo eredi, indegni, di un grande patrimonio che ci \u00e8 stato lasciato. Indegni perch\u00e9 non lo proteggiamo. Non ascoltare \u00e8 colpevole. Davanti a catastrofi cos\u00ec non si pu\u00f2 parlare di fatalit\u00e0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #666699\">Non sempre i terremoti sono prevedibili.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00abLa natura fa il suo corso, \u00e8 indifferente alle nostre sofferenze. Ma noi abbiamo una grande forza: l\u2019intelligenza. Parlare di fatalit\u00e0 \u00e8 fare un torto all\u2019intelligenza umana. La storia insegna: ci siamo sempre difesi, con ripari, fortilizi, magie. Tocca a noi, al nostro senso di responsabilit\u00e0, mettere la giusta energia nella messa in sicurezza del territorio\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #666699\">Dobbiamo difenderci meglio&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00abMa non l\u2019abbiamo fatto. Dove vengono alzate le difese si limitano i danni. A Norcia, per esempio, il sisma non \u00e8 stato disastroso come nei paesi vicini. Perch\u00e9 sono stati fatti i lavori adeguati. Dopo gli ultimi terremoti si \u00e8 agito bene. Non occorre cercare il Giappone o la California per trovare esempi imitabili. Ogni volta che \u00e8 stato fatto uno sforzo, c\u2019\u00e8 stato un risultato positivo\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #666699\">Architetto Piano, davanti ai morti, alla disperazione dei sopravvissuti, allo smarrimento degli sfollati, allo straordinario lavoro dei soccorritori, lei dice: pi\u00f9 che parole servono risposte. La prima?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00abNon si deve allontanare la gente da dove ha vissuto. Amatrice, Pescara del Tronto, Arcuata, Accumoli, Grisciano: bisogna ricostruire tutto com\u2019era e dov\u2019era. Sradicare le persone dai loro luoghi \u00e8 un atto crudele. Vuol dire aggiungere sofferenza alla sofferenza\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #666699\">La pensa cos\u00ec anche il governo. E finalmente non ci sono polemiche.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00abMi fa piacere. Se cerchi un uomo c\u2019\u00e8 sempre una casa. Bisogna ricostruire tra le pietre, le soglie e la gente che la abita\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #666699\">I paesi di cui parliamo sono distrutti.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00abL\u2019anima dei luoghi non si pu\u00f2 cancellare. Chi ha subito un trauma terribile deve poter tornare a vivere dove \u00e8 sempre stato. Superata la prima fase, si devono prevedere abitazioni montate nella zona sismica, strutture temporanee, non definitive. Si possono fare in poco tempo case di legno, a 600 euro al metro quadrato. Come a Onna, in Abruzzo. Finita la ricostruzione si ricicla tutto: il terreno occupato poi torna a essere campo di grano o pascolo\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #666699\">Ci sono precedenti?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00abQuarant\u2019anni fa per l\u2019Unesco ho lavorato con Gianfranco Dioguardi al cantiere sperimentale per il recupero dei centri storici. L\u2019idea base aveva a che fare con la scienza medica: usare la diagnostica per fare interventi meno invasivi possibile, come con la microchirurgia\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #666699\">Sar\u00e0 difficile ricostruire i luoghi com\u2019erano prima.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00abDifficile, certamente. Ma possibile\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #666699\">Sar\u00e0 ancora pi\u00f9 difficile lanciare una grande opera di manutenzione per tutto il Paese.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00abBisogna cominciare.
