Are you interested in our culture? I have always liked foreign languages, and I enjoy explaining to you how Italian grammar works.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Each of the above sentences makes use of the indirect object. Let&#8217;s identify them:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><span style=\"color: #b516b5;\">Ti<\/span> piace la lingua italiana?<span style=\"color: #800080;\"> Ti<\/span> interessa la nostra cultura?<span style=\"color: #b516b5;\"> A me <\/span>sono sempre piaciute le lingue straniere, e <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><span style=\"color: #b516b5;\">mi<\/span> <\/span>fa piacere spiegare <span style=\"color: #b516b5;\">a voi <\/span>come funziona la grammatica italiana.<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As you will see, there are two ways of expressing the indirect object.<br \/>\nThe first uses the preposition<b> &#8216;a&#8217; <\/b>before the pronoun, e.g. <b>&#8216;a me<\/b><b>, a te, a lui<\/b><b>&#8216;<\/b> etc. This is known as the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><i>stressed pronoun<\/i>.<\/span><br \/>\nThe second is a combination of the preposition and the pronoun, e.g. <b>&#8216;mi<\/b><b>, ti, gli<\/b><b>&#8216;<\/b><b> <\/b>etc. This is known as the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><i>unstressed pronoun<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0047ff;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">So, how do I know which to use?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Well, the difference is often subtle, and is only really understood after a lot of practical use.<br \/>\nThe unstressed pronoun is more common, but the stressed pronoun is very important when we want to express emphasis or contrast.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Now take another look at these two sentences:<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #b516b5;\"><b>Ti<\/b><\/span><b> piace la lingua italiana?<\/b><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><b> <\/b><span style=\"color: #b516b5;\"><b>A me<\/b><\/span><\/span><b> sono sempre piaciute le lingue stranier<\/b><b>e<\/b><b> <\/b>(do you like the Italian language?
