In the innocence of our youth we pulled petals one by one from <strong>le margherite<\/strong> (daisies) hoping to discover whether the object of our heart&#8217;s desires truly loved us or not. Photo by Geoff.<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The daisy filled meadows around us remind me of this childhood game, and of a lovely poem by the Italian poet and writer <b>Carlo Alberto Camillo Mariano Salustri<\/b>, better know (thank goodness!) as <strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Trilussa\" target=\"_blank\">Trilussa<\/a><\/span> <\/strong>(<em>an anagram of his surname<\/em>).<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Trilussa is famous for writing in the <strong>Romanesco<\/strong> dialect, and each of his poems contains a moral message, as in the following example, <strong>La Margherita<\/strong>, written in 1900.
