The most common Italian\u00a0prepositions are:<br \/>\n<strong>a <\/strong>(to, at, in)<br \/>\n<strong>con<\/strong> (with)<br \/>\n<strong>da<\/strong> (from, by, since, to, at)<br \/>\n<strong>di<\/strong> (of, than, about)<br \/>\n<strong>in<\/strong> (in, inside, to, within, at)<br \/>\n<strong>per<\/strong> (for, to, by)<br \/>\n<strong>su<\/strong> (on, in, about)<br \/>\n<strong>tra\/fra <\/strong>(between, amongst)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: large\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">How do we combine them with articles?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span>Of the above, we can combine <strong>a<\/strong>, <strong>con<\/strong>, <strong>da<\/strong>, <strong>di<\/strong>, <strong>in<\/strong>, and <strong>su<\/strong> with the definite articles <strong>il, lo, la, l\u2019, i, gli, le<\/strong> in the following way:<br \/>\n<em>N.B. You can revise the Italian definite article <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/how-to-use-the-italian-definite-article\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #333399\">HERE<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" align=\"justify\">Imagine that you want to tell your Italian friend &#8216;yesterday I went to the sea&#8217;. In this phrase we have the preposition &#8216;to&#8217; (<strong>a<\/strong>) and, as the sea is masculine, the definite article &#8216;the&#8217; (<strong>il<\/strong>). We combine <span style=\"color: #800080\"><strong>a<\/strong><\/span> (to) with <span style=\"color: #800080\"><strong>il<\/strong><\/span> (the) to create <span style=\"color: #800080\"><strong>al<\/strong><\/span> (to the).
