{"id":1670,"date":"2012-03-26T15:29:55","date_gmt":"2012-03-26T15:29:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/?p=1670"},"modified":"2012-03-29T16:47:30","modified_gmt":"2012-03-29T16:47:30","slug":"in-cucina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/in-cucina\/","title":{"rendered":"In Cucina"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"justify\">In Italian we have two verbs that both mean \u2018to cook\u2019, <strong>cucinare<\/strong> and <strong>cuocere<\/strong>. <strong>Cucinare<\/strong> refers to the work done by <strong>il cuoco\/la cuoca<\/strong> (the cook), i.e. the process of cooking\/making food, e.g <strong>oggi cucino le lasagne <\/strong>(today I\u2019m cooking\/making lasagne), <strong>Maria sa cucinare tutti i piatti tradizionali della zona<\/strong> (Maria knows how to cook\/make all the traditional local dishes).\u00a0 <strong>Cuocere <\/strong>on the other hand refers to what happens to the ingredients, e.g. baking, boiling, frying etc., e.g.<strong> la polenta cuoce in 40 minuti<\/strong> (polenta cooks in 40 minutes), <strong>cuocere le patate in forno per quaranta minuti<\/strong> (cook the potatoes in the oven for forty minutes).
