It\u2019s spring, the period in which the weather plays nasty tricks on us, leaps in temperature, and rain showers that confuse us and make us ask ourselves: what should I wear today?<\/p>\n

In Italian we use various terms for putting on, wearing, and removing clothing:<\/p>\n

mettersi<\/strong> (to put on)<\/p>\n

pioviggina, mi devo mettere l\u2019impermeabile<\/strong> (it\u2019s drizzling, I\u2019ll have to wear my waterproof)<\/p>\n

mettiti gli scarponi che facciamo una gita in montagna<\/strong> (put your boots on and we\u2019ll go for a walk in the mountains)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

vestirsi<\/strong> (to get dressed)<\/p>\n

vestitevi, \u00e8 ora di partire<\/strong> (get dressed, it\u2019s time to go)<\/p>\n

non vestirti troppo elegante, \u00e8 solo una cena informale<\/strong> (don\u2019t get too dressed up, it\u2019s only an informal dinner)<\/p>\n

indossare<\/strong> (to wear)<\/p>\n

ma che cavolo sta indossando quella signora?<\/strong> (but what on earth is that woman wearing?)<\/p>\n

quando ti ho visto per la prima volta indossavi una giacca verde<\/strong> (the first time I saw you, you were wearing a green jacket)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

portare<\/strong> (to wear, especially accessories such as glasses, jewellery, hairstyles etc.)<\/p>\n

Mario porta gli occhiali<\/strong> (Mario wears glasses)<\/p>\n

Maria porta i capelli raccolti in una treccia<\/strong> (Maria wears her hair in a plait)<\/p>\n

togliersi<\/strong> (to take off)<\/p>\n

aspetta un attimo che mi tolgo le scarpe perch\u00e9 sono sporche<\/strong> (wait a moment while I take my shoes off because they’re dirty)<\/p>\n

togliti il cappello quando entri in chiesa<\/strong> (take off your hat when you go into church)<\/p>\n

svestirsi<\/strong> (to get undressed)<\/p>\n

mi sono svestito in fretta e adesso non trovo pi\u00f9 i calzini<\/strong> (I got undressed in a hurry and now i can\u2019t find my socks any more)<\/p>\n

non mi piace svestirmi in spiaggia<\/strong> (I don\u2019t like getting undressed on the beach)<\/p>\n

spogliarsi<\/strong> (to get undressed)<\/p>\n

esci per favore che mi devo spogliare<\/strong> (go out please I\u2019ve got to get undressed)<\/p>\n

poi il dottore mi ha detto: \u201csi spogli per favore\u201d<\/strong> (then the doctor said to me: \u201cget undressed please\u201d)<\/p>\n

cambiarsi<\/strong> (to get changed)<\/p>\n

\u00e8 pi\u00f9 facile cambiarsi in spiaggia se c\u2019\u00e8 lo spogliatoio<\/strong> (it\u2019s easier to get changed on the beach if there\u2019s a changing room)<\/p>\n
