As the title suggests, today’s post is not ‘ours’ as such, but has been written by a small selection of the 9 and 10 year old children who worked alongside us in our printing workshop at a local scuola elementare<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

N.B. Only two of the thirteen children in this class were boys, hence the male female disparity reflected below.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\nOggi in classe \u00e8 venuto un signore di nome Geoff che ci ha insegnato una cosa nuova: la tecnica della stampa con pezzi di legno di forme diverse. Prima si mettono le tempere sopra delle spugne umide, poi si prende un pezzo di legno e si posa sopra alla tempera. Si solleva il legno, si appoggia al foglio bianco, si toglie e … fatto! la stampa compare. Il mio primo disegno \u00e8 stato il fiore di loto, poi un albero, dei coriandoli, un villaggio, un uomo con un occhio e delle forme di tanti colori. Mi sono divertita molto e spero che faremo altre lezioni con Geoff.<\/strong>
\nToday a gentleman named Geoff came to our classroom. He taught us something new: the technique of printing with differently shaped pieces of wood. First you put the temperas onto some wet sponges, then you take a piece of wood and place it on the tempera. You lift the wood and lay it on the white paper, remove it and … it’s done! the print appears. My first picture was a lotus flower, then a tree with confetti, a village, a man with one eye and some multicoloured shapes. I enjoyed myself a lot and hope we’ll have other lessons with Geoff.<\/p>\n

\nQuesta mattina ho stampato …<\/strong>
\n.. delle farfalle gialle, turchesi e azzurre con puntini colorati: le ho fatte con delle forme che ci hanno dato due signori molto simpatici di nome Geoff e Serena.<\/strong>
\nPoi ho stampato tante mani, tutte colorate e per questo disegno non ho utilizzato le forme.<\/strong>
\nUn’altra stampa aveva come argomento una citt\u00e0, colorata con il turchese, verde chiaro, marrone, marrone chiaro, quasi rosso, e verde scuro.<\/strong>
\nInfine ho fatto una cascata in una foresta utilizzando tante forme di tipo diverso.<\/strong>
\nIl mio disegno preferito \u00e8 quello con le farfalle.<\/strong>
\nThis morning I printed …
\n.. some yellow, turquoise and azure butterflies with coloured dots: I made them with shapes given to us by two very nice people by the name of Geoff and Serena.
\nThen I printed lots of hands, all coloured, and for this picture I didn’t use the printing blocks.
\nAnother print had a city as its subject, coloured in turquoise, light green, brown, light brown, almost red, and dark green.
\nFinally, I made a waterfall in a forest using lots of different shapes.
\nMy favourite picture is the one with the butterflies.<\/p>\n

\nQuesta mattina, quattro marzo 2019 abbiamo stampato disegni come: giraffe, T-rex, alberi. Il nostro maestro \u00e8 stato Geoff, senza di lui non ce l’avremmo fatta, anche sua moglie \u00e8 stata di grande aiuto. Alla fine il lavoro di tutta la classe \u00e8 stato molto proficuo: infatti in tutto abbiamo prodotto 58 disegni.<\/strong>
\nThis morning, fourth of March 2019 we printed pictures such as: giraffes, T-rex, trees. Our teacher was Geoff, without him we wouldn’t have managed, his wife was very helpful too. All in all, our work was very productive: in fact, we produced a total of 58 pictures.<\/p>\n

\nQuesta mattina ho stampato con una tecnica che usavano tanto tempo fa. Geoff e Serena ci hanno aiutato a fare dei disegni meravigliosi con la tempera. Io ne ho fatti quattro: la giraffa, il paese immaginario, la sirena orientale dentro il mare ed infine ho interpretato la vita.<\/strong>
\nMi \u00e8 piaciuta molto questa iniziativa perch\u00e9 ci ha fatto capire quanto le persone dovevano lavorare un tempo per fare cose che a noi sembrano semplicissime.<\/strong>
\nThis morning I printed with a technique used a long time ago. Geoff and Serena helped us make some wonderful pictures with tempera. I made four: the giraffe, the imaginary village, the oriental mermaid in the sea and finally I interpreted life.
\nI liked this activity very much because it made us realize how much people had to work in the past to make things that seem very simple to us.<\/p>\n

\nQuesta mattina ho stampato alcuni bellissimi disegni. Ho utilizzato, con tecniche diverse, alcuni pezzetti di legno che sono diventati: angeli, uccelli, palme, torri, bandiere, case …<\/strong>
\nHo fatto quattro disegni: il primo rappresenta la Terra sotto forma di angelo (le sue ali sono i fiumi, la testa \u00e8 il mare, le braccia sono la terra fertile e il vestito la terra arida) e l’ho chiamato “Speranza”; in un altro ho raffigurato un uccello nella giungla e si chiama “Libert\u00e0”. In un altro ancora ho stampato due bandiere che volano al vento e una torre in lontananza: questa stampa \u00e8 “Incanto”; l’ultimo disegno \u00e8 il mio preferito, “La citt\u00e0 ecologica”, perch\u00e9 nella citt\u00e0 ci sono molte piante.<\/strong>
\nThis morning I printed some beautiful pictures. I used some small pieces of wood with different techniques, which became: angels, birds, palms, towers, flags, houses …
\nI made four pictures: the first represents Earth in the form of an angel (its wings are the rivers, its head is the sea, its arms are the fertile land and its dress the arid land) and I called it “Hope”; in another one I portrayed a bird in the jungle which is called “Freedom”. In another one I printed two flags flying in the wind and a tower in the distance: this print is “Charm”; the last picture is my favourite, “The Ecological City”, because in this city there are a lot of plants.<\/p>\n
