Piacere<\/em> – to like (to be pleasing to..)<\/h4>\n

(Tu) mi piaci<\/em> – I like you (lit. you are pleasing to me)<\/p>\n

\u26a0 Piacere<\/em> is conjugated much differently than other verbs. It literally means something is pleasing to you (whether that me a person or something else!) Therefore, watch the subject of the verb piacere <\/em>when conjugating – the verb agrees with the thing being liked, not the person who likes it. (another example of a verb like this – mancare<\/em> (to miss) mi manchi<\/em> – I miss you [you are missing to me])<\/p>\n

Other examples:<\/p>\n

Ti piaccio?<\/em> – Do you like me? (Am I pleasing to you?)<\/p>\n

A voi piace il calcio<\/em> – You all like soccer (To you all soccer is pleasing)<\/p>\n

Mi piacciono i gatti – <\/em>I like cats (Cats are pleasing to me)<\/p>\n

Adorare –<\/em> to adore\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

This one is straight forward and although it’s not the typical way to say I love you, I still think it deserves a shout out!<\/p>\n

Ti adoro, tesoro<\/em> – I adore you, treasure (a cute pet-name!)<\/p>\n

Amare<\/em> – to love<\/h4>\n

Straightforward and simple, this is the way you express romantic love in Italian.<\/p>\n

Ti amo<\/em> – I love you<\/p>\n

Sono innamorato(a) di te<\/em> – I am in love with you<\/p>\n

Ci siamo innamorati\/e – <\/em>We fell in love<\/p>\n

Ti amo da morire<\/em> – I love you to death<\/p>\n

Ti amo per sempre<\/em> – I love you forever<\/p>\n

Ti amo pi\u00f9 oggi di ieri ma meno di domani –<\/em> I love you more today than yesterday but less than tomorrow<\/p>\n

Ti amo con tutto il cuore<\/em> – I love you with all my heart<\/p>\n

Volere bene a qualcuno<\/em> –\u00a0 to want someone well<\/h4>\n

Ok, this one is a bit tricky. Literally this verb means you want someone to be well, or in other words you really care for them. But is it love, or is it just like?<\/p>\n

This expression will be used when showing love to family members, friends or other uncommitted relationships.\u00a0<\/strong>Therefore, if you’re casually seeing someone, this doesn’t translate as ‘love’ in the same way as ‘ti amo<\/em>.’ Think of this as more so platonic love that you have for your friends, family, and other people you care about. ?<\/p>\n

Ti voglio (tanto) bene<\/em> – I like you, love you, really care for you (lit. I want you well)<\/p>\n

Ti voglio un mondo di bene –\u00a0<\/em>I really like you, love you (I want a world of good for you)<\/p>\n
