{"id":19901,"date":"2022-01-07T19:03:51","date_gmt":"2022-01-07T18:03:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/?p=19901"},"modified":"2022-01-07T19:03:51","modified_gmt":"2022-01-07T18:03:51","slug":"giornata-nazionale-della-bandiera-national-flag-day-of-italy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/giornata-nazionale-della-bandiera-national-flag-day-of-italy\/","title":{"rendered":"Giornata Nazionale della Bandiera &#8211; National Flag Day of Italy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Ciao a tutti!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Today is Tricolor Day (<i>Festa del Tricolore<\/i>) or officially National Flag Day (<i>Giornata Nazionale della Bandiera<\/i>) in Italy!<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been celebrated since 1996, and the official celebration of the day is held in\u00a0Reggio Emilia, the city where the\u00a0Italian tricolor was first adopted by an Italian sovereign state with Napoleon Bonaparte&#8217;s backing, the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cispadane_Republic\">Cispadane Republic<\/a>, on 7 January 1797.<\/p>\n<p>Did you know that Italian tricolor design comes from the standard designed by Napoleon during the Italian campaign of 1796? The coloring was influenced by the French Tricolor, at first appearing in horizontal bands. There are many theories on what the colors represent, with some saying that the green represents the country\u2019s plains and the hills, the white represents the Alps covered in snow, and the red represents the blood spilled by many patriots who fought for the Italian independence and unification.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19903\" style=\"width: 970px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter &#8220;<em>Il Canto degli Italiani<\/em>&#8220;- &#8220;The Song of the Italians&#8221; is also know as &#8220;<i>Inno di Mameli&#8221;<\/i>\u00a0 (Mameli&#8217;s Hymn) since it was written by
