Today I wanted to share some reading practice around daily routine. As you may know, a lot of daily routine verbs are reflexive, and therefore need to include a reflexive pronoun when conjugating them.<\/p>\n

The pronomi riflessivi<\/em> (reflexive pronouns) are:<\/p>\n

mi<\/em> (myself)<\/p>\n

ti<\/em> (yourself singular informal)<\/p>\n

si<\/em> (himself\/herself\/yourself singular formal)<\/p>\n

ci<\/em> (ourselves)<\/p>\n

vi<\/em> (yourselves)<\/p>\n

si<\/em> (themselves)<\/p>\n

Here are some examples of reflexive verbs:<\/p>\n

accomodarsi<\/em> – to sit down, to take a seat<\/p>\n

addormentarsi<\/em> – to go to sleep<\/p>\n

alzarsi<\/em> – to get up<\/p>\n

annoiarsi<\/em> – to get bored, to be bored<\/p>\n

arrabbiarsi<\/em> – to get angry<\/p>\n

chiamarsi<\/em> – to be called<\/p>\n

chiedersi<\/em> – to wonder<\/p>\n

divertirsi<\/em> – to enjoy oneself; to have fun<\/p>\n

farsi<\/em> male<\/em> – to hurt oneself<\/p>\n

fermarsi<\/em> – to stop oneself<\/p>\n

lavarsi<\/em> – to wash oneself, to get washed<\/p>\n

perdersi<\/em> – to get lost<\/p>\n

pettinarsi<\/em> – to comb one\u2019s hair<\/p>\n

preoccuparsi<\/em> – to worry<\/p>\n

prepararsi<\/em> – to get ready<\/p>\n

ricordarsi<\/em> – to remember<\/p>\n

rilassarsi<\/em> – to relax oneself<\/p>\n

sbrigarsi<\/em> – to hurry<\/p>\n

svegliarsi<\/em> – to wake up<\/p>\n

vestirsi<\/em> – to dress oneself, to get dressed<\/p>\n

Marisa:<\/strong>\u00a0Perch\u00e8?<\/em><\/p>\n

Alex:<\/strong>\u00a0Non ne parliamo. Non voglio annoiarti.<\/em><\/p>\n

Marisa<\/strong>: Ma cosa dici! Siamo amici! Racconta, sono tutta orecchie.<\/em><\/p>\n

Alex:\u00a0<\/strong>Ti ricordi, ti ho parlato di un lavoro part\u2011time che mi interessa molto?<\/em><\/p>\n

Marisa:<\/strong>\u00a0Il lavoro all’agenzia di viaggi?<\/em><\/p>\n

Alex:<\/strong>\u00a0S\u00ec. Allora, due giorni fa mi hanno telefonato per fare un colloquio. Abbiamo fissato un colloquio per oggi alle 11 di mattina.<\/em><\/p>\n

Marisa:<\/strong>\u00a0Ovviamente! Tu sei molto in gamba. Vai avanti.<\/em><\/p>\n

Alex:<\/strong>\u00a0Grazie Marisa, ma oggi \u00e8 stato un vero disastro! Questa mattina mi sono svegliato come sempre alle 7 e mi sono fatto il caff\u00e8, ma con il cuore a mille per l’emozione, cos\u00ec non ho fatto colazione.<\/em><\/p>\n

Alex:<\/strong>\u00a0Ho pensato per prima cosa butto via la spazzatura, poi do da mangiare al gatto. Dopo mi faccio una doccia al volo e mi rado come tutte le mattine. E poi mi vesto per andare al colloquio. Un piano perfetto, solo che\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

Marisa:<\/strong>\u00a0Alex, non mi far stare sulle spine!<\/em><\/p>\n

Alex:<\/strong>\u00a0Quando sono andato a buttare la spazzatura sono inciampato e sono caduto in una pozzanghera enorme! Per fortuna non mi sono fatto male.<\/em><\/p>\n

Alex:<\/strong>\u00a0Quando mi sono rialzato mi \u00e8 caduto il telefono nella pozza e si \u00e8 rotto! E sono senz’acqua in casa da stamani.<\/em><\/p>\n

Marisa:<\/strong> Povero Alex! Che giornataccia! E quindi? Sei andato cos\u00ec al colloquio di lavoro?<\/em><\/p>\n

Alex:<\/strong>\u00a0Marisa, non sono andato al colloquio. Mi sono stressato e vergognato.<\/em><\/p>\n

Marisa:<\/strong>\u00a0Che sfortuna, Alex! Vieni a casa mia e ti fai una doccia, ne hai bisogno.<\/em><\/p>\n

Marisa<\/strong>: Hi Alex! How are you? Didn’t you comb your hair this morning? You are all disheveled!<\/p>\n

Alex:<\/strong> I know Marisa. It’s not a good day. I didn’t sleep a wink all night.<\/p>\n

Marisa<\/strong>: Why?<\/p>\n

Alex:<\/strong> We don’t talk about it. I do not want to bore you.<\/p>\n

Marisa:<\/strong> What are you saying! We are friends! Tell me, I’m all ears.<\/p>\n

Alex:<\/strong> Do you remember, I told you about a part-time job that I am interested in?<\/p>\n

Marisa:<\/strong> The work at the travel agency?<\/p>\n

Alex:<\/strong> Yes. So, two days ago they called me for an interview. We set up an interview for today at 11 in the morning.<\/p>\n

Marisa:<\/strong> Of course! You are very capable. Go ahead.<\/p>\n

Alex:<\/strong> Thanks Marisa, but today it was a real disaster! This morning I woke up as always at 7 and made myself coffee, but with my heart pounding with emotion, so I didn’t have breakfast.<\/p>\n

Alex<\/strong>: I thought first I’ll take out the trash, then I’ll feed the cat. After I’ll take a quick shower and shave like every morning. And then I’ll get dressed to go to the interview. A perfect plan, only…<\/p>\n

Marisa<\/strong>: Alex, don’t keep me on the edge!<\/p>\n

Alex:<\/strong> When I went to take out the trash I tripped and fell into a huge puddle! Luckily I didn’t get hurt.<\/p>\n

Alex:<\/strong> When I got up my phone dropped into the puddle and broke! And I’ve been without water in the house since this morning.<\/p>\n

Marisa:<\/strong> Poor Alex! What a bad day! So what? Did you go to the job interview like that?<\/p>\n

Alex<\/strong>: Marisa, I didn’t go to the interview. I got stressed and ashamed.<\/p>\n

Marisa<\/strong>: What bad luck, Alex! Come to my house and take a shower, you need it.<\/p>\n
