Following my visit to Lucca Comics 2009, I felt inspired to write something about i Fumetti<\/strong> (Comic Books), then I realized that I hadn\u2019t done a quiz for ages. So eccolo<\/strong> (here it is), a Fumetti Quiz! But first a brief explanation of the name Fumetti<\/strong>: the word fumetto<\/strong> comes from, as you might have guessed, fumo<\/strong> (smoke),\u00a0used to describe the speech bubbles that emerge from the characters mouths in comic books which look like little clouds of smoke. This term, especially in the plural (fumetti)\u00a0was gradually\u00a0extended to include the illustrations, and eventually the actual comic books themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now for the quiz. I’m going to give you a few extracts from\u00a0a very popular fumetto, but whenever the\u00a0supereroe<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0(super hero) or his young assistant is named I will put stars. See if you can guess who\u00a0this famous personaggio<\/strong> (character)\u00a0is.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ancora una volta un pericolosissimo criminale insidia la citt\u00e0. Un criminale che intesse attorno a s\u00e8 una tela di morte. Uno soltanto osa battersi contro di lui: ******<\/span><\/p>\n

(Once again a very dangerous criminal threatens the city. A criminal who weaves around himself a web of death. Only one dares to fight against him: ******)<\/span><\/p>\n

I giornali,\u00a0la radio non parlano d\u2019altro che dello spietato, astutissimo criminale. Nella sua casa\u00a0****** parla con il suo giovane aiutante\u00a0*****. Speech bubble:<\/span> *****: \u2018Ma ******, perch\u00e8 non facciamo noi qualcosa contro questo criminale?\u2019 ******: \u2018Non ancora *****, non \u00e8 ancora il momento. Ma quando lo faremo\u2026..\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

The papers, the radio, speak of nothing but the\u00a0cunning, pitiless\u00a0criminal. In his house ****** speaks with his\u00a0young assistant *****. Speech bubble:<\/span> *****: \u2018But ******, why don\u2019t we do something against this criminal?\u2019 ******: \u2019Not yet *****, it\u2019s not yet the moment. But when we do it\u2026\u2026\u2026.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

Pi\u00f9 tardi\u2026\u2026\u00a0<\/span> D\u2019improvviso, dall\u2019alto delle scale, il fruscio di un passo. Il grande ******. Un valanga umana precipita addosso ai pistoleros\u2026\u2026 Speech bubble:<\/span> \u2019Un po malfermi sulle gambe eh?\u2019 Un pugno massiccio si abbatte sulla mascella di un pistolero.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Later\u2026\u2026 Suddenly, from the top of the stairs, the rustle of a step. The great ******. A human avalanche falls unto the two gunmen\u2026\u2026 Speech bubble:<\/span> \u2019A bit unstable on your legs eh?’ A massive punch hits the jaw of a gunman.<\/span><\/p>\n

L\u2019auto del criminale \u00e8 gi\u00e0 in moto, ma il ****** le\u00a0\u00e8 sopra come una nera nube di vendetta! Solo un atleta prodigioso come il ****** poteva fare un simile salto!\u2026\u2026 Speech bubble:<\/span>\u00a0\u2018Ce l\u2019ho fatta, e ora\u2026\u2026..\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

The criminal\u2019s car is already moving, but ****** is on it like a black cloud of vengeance! Only a prodigious athlete like ****** could achieve a such a jump!\u2026\u2026 Speech bubble:<\/span> \u2019I\u2019ve done it, and now\u2026\u2026\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

Lo spietato assassino spinge gi\u00f9 dal ponte ****** privo di sensi !!! <\/span>Ma il freddo dell\u2019acqua lo richiama in vita. Speech bubble:<\/span> \u2026\u2026\u2019Wow, mi pare che la testa mi stia per scoppiare!\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

The pitiless assassin pushes ****** down from the bridge unconscious !!! But the cold of the water brings\u00a0him\u00a0back to life\u2026.. Speech bubble:<\/span> \u2019Wow, it seems like my head is going to explode!\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

Naturally\u00a0justice triumphs in the end with<\/span>:<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

un ultimo colpo, menato dal ****** con tutte le sue forze.<\/span><\/p>\n

a\u00a0final blow, dealt by ****** with all his force. <\/span><\/p>\n

and the criminal is safely behind bar\u2026.. for now at least!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n

A couple of clues:\u00a0Our mysterious superhero is sometimes referred to as Il Cavaliere della Notte<\/strong> and his assistant, Il Ragazzo Meraviglia<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now see if you can guess who his adversary was. Clue: he is famous for his minaccioso sogghigno sinistro<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
