Puntuale nell\u2019ultima domenica di gennaio ha avuto luogo la quinta riedizione del Cimento Invernale, una gara di nuoto su 150 metri nelle gelide acque del Naviglio Grande, il principale canale navigabile di Milano. Da quando nel gennaio 2009 la Canottieri Olona ha riproposto ai milanesi la sfida che rievoca i fasti del lontano 1895, non si era mai vista una giornata cos\u00ec fredda.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

On the last Sunday in January the fifth \u2018Winter Ordeal\u2019, a 150 metre swimming race in the freezing waters of the Naviglio Grande, the main navigable canal in Milan, was held punctually as usual. Since January 2009, when the <\/span>Olona Canoe Club<\/span><\/strong><\/a> proposed to the people of Milan a challenge that evokes the splendours of long ago 1895, there had never been such a cold day.<\/span><\/p>\n

L\u2019insolita novit\u00e0 del mercatino con bancarelle colme di delizie tipiche delle varie regioni italiane, con dolci, salumi, formaggi e il primo spumante del Cimento prodotto dalla casa vinicola Castel San Giorgio, hanno creato una cornice di calore per chi \u00e8 rimasto dalla mattina ad attendere i tuffi degli audaci.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The unusual novelty of a market with stalls filled with culinary delights typical to the various regions of Italy, with sweets, cold meats, cheese and the first spumante of the Cimento produced by the Castel San Giorgio winery, created a cosy setting for those who had been there since the morning waiting for the daring swimmers to dive in.<\/span><\/p>\n

La comparsa degli atleti del ParaCimento, ben 8 atleti portatori di disabilit\u00e0 con i loro istruttori tutti in costume da folletti e accompagnati dalla madrina Annalisa Minetti, ha dato il via ai primi tuffi amatoriali. A mezzod\u00ec il suono delle campane della chiesa di San Cristoforo ha poi segnato l\u2019inizio del Cimento,\u00a0 e da quel momento \u00e8 stato un susseguirsi di tuffi e di emozioni seguiti da un pubblico degno delle grandi occasioni.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The appearance of eight disabled athletes, the ParaCimento, with their instructors, all in elf costumes and accompanied by their sponsor Annalisa Minetti<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span> (Italian singer and blind Paralympics athlete), kicked off the first amateur dips. At midday the ringing<\/span> of the bells of San Cristoforo signalled the beginning of the Cimento, and from that moment on there followed a succession of exciting leaps into the water watched by an audience fitting to the occasion.<\/span><\/p>\n

Subito dopo la foto di rito con tutti gli atleti, si \u00e8 disputata l\u2019ormai classica sfida\u00a0 su 150 metri tra gli atleti della Canottieri Olona e gli atleti della Canottieri Milano: il trofeo di Ghiaccio quest\u2019anno \u00e8 ritornato nelle mani dei padroni di casa con il tempo di 4,34 contro i 4,46 degli sfidanti<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Straight after the \u2018ritual\u2019 photo of the athletes, the classic 150 meters challenge was held between the athletes of the Olona Canoe Club and the Milan Canoe Club: the Ice Trophy retuned to the hands of the hosts this year, with a time of 4.34 against a time of 4.46 by the challengers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Durante tutta la manifestazione l\u2019assistenza in acqua e sulle sponde \u00e8 stata garantita dalla presenza di personale specializzato, costituito dal Gruppo Sommozzatori dei Vigili del Fuoco e della Polizia Municipale, e da Medici in Pista di Monza\u00a0 con ben 3 ambulanze, una tenda attrezzata e una unit\u00e0 mobile di rianimazione.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout the event, safety, both on the water and on the banks, was guaranteed by the presence of specialised personnel, made up of the Firemen\u2019s Diving Group, the Municipal Police, and mobile medics from Monza, with three ambulances, a hospital tent and a mobile resuscitation unit.<\/span><\/p>\n
