Ai gatti non piace la pioggia, questo lo so perch\u00e9 sono gatta anch\u2019io. Noi gatti siamo creature sensibili, ed anche se siamo capaci di sopportare tante cose che agli essere umani sarebbero insopportabili apprezziamo le comodit\u00e0 di un posto caldo, asciutto, ed accogliente con una buona scorta di croccantini, proprio come la casa di Geoff e Serena.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cats don\u2019t like the rain. I know, because I\u2019m a cat myself. Us cats are sensitive creatures, and even if we are capable of putting up with lots of things that human beings couldn\u2019t tolerate we appreciate the comforts of a warm, dry, welcoming place with a good supply of cat biscuits, exactly like Geoff and Serena\u2019s house. <\/p>\n

Io mi chiamo Mim\u00ec la Gatta, e sono stata la prima, assieme con mio figlio Coc\u00f2, a farmi adottare dagli umani dopo che i miei \u2018proprietari\u2019 precedenti ci avevano crudelmente abbandonato vicino ai cassonetti del paese. Oramai siamo in sei: io e Coc\u00f2, pi\u00f9 Jenni e i suoi tre figli: Smokie, Bella e Gigia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

My name is Mim\u00ec la Gatta, and I was the first, together with my son Coc\u00f2, to get myself adopted by the humans after my previous \u2018owners\u2019 had cruelly abandoned us near the village rubbish bins. Now there are six of us: me and Coc\u00f2, plus Jenni and her three children: Smokie, Bella, and Gigia.<\/p>\n

Ed eccoci, tutti e sei intrappolati dentro casa dalla pioggia noiosa che cade ormai da qualche giorno. Ognuno di noi ha i suoi posti preferiti dove acciambellarsi quando non \u00e8 il caso di uscire. Attualmente io sono sdraiata sul tavolo di cucina non troppo lontana dalla stufa. Essendo una gatta abbastanza, diciamo, \u2018ampia\u2019, mi trovo meglio sul tavolo che non sulle sedie, anche se a volte riesco ad infilarmi in posti improbabilmente stretti!<\/strong><\/p>\n

So here we are, all six of us trapped inside the house by the boring rain that\u2019s been falling for several days now. Each of us have our favourite places where we can curl up when it\u2019s not a good idea to go out. At the moment I\u2019m stretched out on the kitchen table not too far from the stove. Being a somewhat, let\u2019s say, \u2018ample\u2019 cat, I feel more comfortable on the table than the chairs, even if sometimes I manage to squeeze myself into the most improbably tight places!<\/p>\n

Coc\u00f2, invece, \u00e8 su sul letto con la sua amica Gigia a pulirle la fronte, le orecchie, e sotto il mento. Gigia si gode le attenzioni del suo \u2018grande fratello\u2019 adottivo. Sopra le loro teste si sente il gocciolio costante della pioggia sui lucernai.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Coc\u00f2, on the other hand, is up on the bed with his friend Gigia, cleaning her forehead, her ears, and under her chin. Gigia enjoys the attention of her adopted \u2018big brother\u2019. Above their heads you can hear the constant dripping of the rain on the skylights.<\/p>\n

Di solito quando piove e non possiamo, o meglio non vogliamo uscire, Geoff piazza una sedia vicino alla porta finestra della cucina. Ed \u00e8 su questa che troviamo Smokie a cui, anche se preferisce stare dentro quando il tempo fa schifo, piace tenere sott\u2019occhio la situazione l\u00e0 fuori.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Usually when it rains and when can\u2019t, or rather don\u2019t want to go out, Geoff places a chair near the French windows in the kitchen. And it\u2019s on this that we find Smokie who, even if he prefers to stay inside when the weather is disgusting, likes to keep an eye on the situation outside.<\/p>\n

Sempre in cucina c\u2019\u00e8 Jenni, l\u2019ultima aggiunta alla famiglia. Era una gatta randagia del paese, ridotta male, magra magra, un po\u2019 spelata, e mamma di tanti bei gattini, fra cui Smokie, Gigia e Bella. Era inevitabile che prima o poi Geoff e Serena l\u2019adottassero.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Jenni, the last addition to the family, is also in the kitchen. She was a village stray, in poor condition, very thin, a bit bald, and mother of many beautiful kittens, amongst which are Smokie, Gigia and Bella. It was inevitable that sooner or later Geoff and Serena would adopt her.<\/p>\n

Fin dall\u2019inizio Jenni ha scelto la sedia pi\u00f9 lontana dalla finestre della cucina. Chiss\u00e0 se vuole allontanarsi il pi\u00f9 possibile dal tempaccio che l\u2019aveva fatta soffrire cos\u00ec tanto quando abitava sempre fuori. Su quella sedia Geoff ha appeso un pezzo di spago con legato un tappo di sughero. Ed \u00e8 diventato questo il giocattolo preferito di Jenni, che fino a quando non \u00e8 diventata parte della nostra famiglia non sapeva neanche cosa voleva dire giocare!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Right from the start Jenni chose the chair furthest from the kitchen window. Perhaps she wants to distance herself as much as possible from the horrible weather that made her suffer so much when she lived outside all the time. On that chair, Geoff has hung a piece of string with a cork attached to it. And this has become the favourite toy of Jenni who, until she became part of our family, didn\u2019t even know what playing meant!<\/p>\n

Poi c\u2019\u00e8 Bella che, anche se sembra la pi\u00f9 delicata di tutti noi, \u00e8 probabilmente la pi\u00f9 indipendente e autosufficiente. A Bella piace stare fuori il pi\u00f9 possibile, e la pioggia le rompe le scatole! Quindi quando non pu\u00f2 uscire si trova un posto tutta sola soletta, si acciambella, e sogna dei giorni soleggiati.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Then there’s Bella who, even if she seems the most delicate of all of us, is probably the most independent and self sufficient. Bella likes to be out as much as possible, and the rain breaks her \u2018boxes\u2019 (a euphemism for \u2018le rompe le palle\u2019<\/strong>: breaks her balls)! So when she can\u2019t go out she finds a place all on her own, she curls up, and she dreams of sunny days.<\/p>\n

E adesso dormiamo tutti, col sottofondo della Sinfonia Pastorale di Beethoven che Geoff ascolta mentre scrive per me queste mie parole \u2026 ma pensavate che potevo usare una tastiera con queste zampe? che buffo!<\/strong><\/p>\n

And now we\u2019re all sleeping to the sound of Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony, which Geoff is listening to as he writes these words for me \u2026 what, you thought I could use a keyboard with these paws? how funny!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\"\"
