Take a seat…but where? Here is a useful list of some of the most common things that we sit on:<\/font><\/p>\n

la sedia a sdraio<\/font><\/strong><\/td>\nthe deck-chair<\/font><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
la sedia a dondolo<\/font><\/strong><\/td>\nthe rocking chair<\/font><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
la sedia a rotelle<\/font><\/strong><\/td>\nthe wheelchair<\/font><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
il sedile<\/font><\/strong><\/td>\nthe seat, e.g. in a car, bus, train, etc.<\/font><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
il seggiolino<\/font><\/strong><\/td>\nthe child’s seat in a car<\/font><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

When I was a child I used to love sitting on l’altalena <\/strong>(the swing), while my mother sat on la panchina<\/strong> (the bench) watching me dondolare<\/strong> (swing).<\/font><\/p>\n

Not many of us get a chance to sit on il trono<\/strong> (the throne), but, there again, you don’t often find kings or queens sitting on lo sgabello<\/strong> (the stool) in a bar!<\/font><\/p>\n

If there’s nothing else available you can always sit per terra<\/strong> (on the ground). <\/font>Oh, and by the way, the part of you that does the sitting is il sedere<\/strong> (the bottom)!<\/font><\/p>\n
