Yesterday evening we arrived home in Italy after a three day drive across Europe from England. Now, there\u2019s only one thing I can think of: Sleep. Well dear readers, let\u2019s see if I can stop yawning long enough to write you a sleepy little blog. Guess what it\u2019s going to be about \u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

Some Sleepy Vocabulary:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

sbadigliare<\/strong> = to yawn<\/p>\n

non riesco a smettere di sbadigliare<\/strong> = I can\u2019t stop yawning<\/p>\n

sonno<\/strong> = sleep<\/p>\n

avere sonno <\/strong>= to be tired\/sleepy<\/p>\n

che sonno che ho!<\/strong> = I\u2019m so tired\/sleepy!<\/p>\n

Geoff \u00e8 andato a letto presto perch\u00e9 aveva un sonno da morire<\/strong> = Geoff went to bed early because he was\/felt very tired\/sleepy<\/p>\n

mi \u00e8 venuto un gran sonno, vado a sdraiarmi un po\u2019<\/strong> = I feel really tired, I\u2019m going to go to lie down for a while<\/p>\n

sonnecchiare <\/strong>= to doze<\/p>\n

credo di aver sonnecchiato un po\u2019<\/strong> = I think I dozed for a bit<\/p>\n

sonnolenza <\/strong>= drowsiness<\/p>\n

attenzione, questa medicina pu\u00f2 causare sonnolenza<\/strong> = warning, this medicine can cause drowsiness<\/p>\n

dormire<\/strong> = to sleep<\/p>\n

ho dormito come un sasso<\/strong> = I slept like a log (lit. like a stone)<\/p>\n

c\u2019\u00e8 troppo rumore, non riesco a dormire<\/strong>= It\u2019s too noisy, I can\u2019t sleep<\/p>\n

dormita<\/strong> = sleep, rest<\/p>\n

mi sono fatta proprio una bella dormita<\/strong> = I had a really good sleep<\/p>\n

dormiglione <\/strong>= sleepyhead<\/p>\n

Paolo \u00e8 proprio un dormiglione, non si alza mai in tempo!<\/strong> = Paolo is a real sleepyhead, he never gets up in time!<\/p>\n

addormentarsi <\/strong>= to fall asleep<\/p>\n

ogni volta che mi addormentavo un rumore forte mi svegliava<\/strong> = every time I fell asleep a load noise woke me up<\/p>\n

ero cos\u00ec stanca che mi sono addormentata di colpo<\/strong> = I was so tired that I fell asleep immediately<\/p>\n

dormiveglia <\/strong>= to be half awake<\/p>\n

ero cos\u00ec nervosa all\u2019idea del viaggio che sono rimasta tutta la notte in uno stato di dormiveglia<\/strong> = I was so nervous at the thought of the journey that I lay half awake all night<\/p>\n

molto spesso dopo pranzo io e Geoff facciamo una pennichella<\/strong> = Geoff and I often take a nap after lunch<\/p>\n

pisolino<\/strong> = nap<\/p>\n

vado a fare un pisolino e poi mi metto a lavorare<\/strong> = I\u2019m going for a nap and then I\u2019ll start working<\/p>\n
