However, there is something special about <strong>Il Mondiale<\/strong> (The World Cup), and as we don&#8217;t have a <strong>televisione<\/strong> we usually go round to my parents&#8217; apartment to watch the more interesting <strong>partite<\/strong> (matches) with my dad, who is an enthusiastic\u00a0&#8216;couch footballer&#8217;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">After\u00a0 a grueling <strong>primo tempo<\/strong> (first half),\u00a0 <strong>l&#8217;intervallo<\/strong> (half-time) is particularly welcome on these hot sultry July days, and we all retire to the <strong>spogliatoio<\/strong> (dressing room &#8211; which in our case means my mum&#8217;s kitchen) to refresh ourselves with a <strong>gelato<\/strong> and prepare for <strong>il secondo tempo<\/strong> (the second half) of the <strong>partita<\/strong> (match).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>Calcio<\/strong> (football), like all sports, has its own particular vocabulary which is much too\u00a0extensive to list in this blog.
