Edsel. \u201cHow about writing a guest blog for us Bill?\u201d I replied \u201cperhaps you could do a mini review of the book\u201d. Edsel has written an informative and enjoyable book concerning this important chapter in history.&#160; Reading this book you are filled with sadness at what was lost, and wonderment at what was preserved under such dangerous circumstances.&#160; Museums across Italy were emptied and their contents moved to numerous locations, some traveling as far as Austria and Germany over damaged and dangerous roads.<\/font><\/p>\n<table border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\" width=\"535\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"535\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/05\/1368720727385.jpg\" aria-label=\"1368720727385 Thumb\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px;padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;border-top-width: 0px;border-bottom-width: 0px;border-left-width: 0px;padding-top: 0px\" title=\"1368720727385\" border=\"0\" alt=\"1368720727385\"  width=\"537\" height=\"423\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/05\/1368720727385_thumb.jpg\"><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"535\"><em><font color=\"#646b86\">Florentine art returns home at the end of the war. G\u00f6ring amassed a huge private collection of stolen art during WWII.<\/font><\/em><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p align=\"justify\"><font color=\"#000000\">This is a great book to add to your summer reading list.&#160; Especially if you are interested in history and Italian culture and art.&#160; One cannot help but contemplate how dangerously close the world came to losing many of its greatest creative achievements, and how poorer we would all be if not for the work of the MFAA and their<\/font> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.corriere.it\/foto-gallery\/cronache\/14_febbraio_17\/fotogallery-monuments-men-opere-arte-italiane-salvate-da-italianigallery-34e387a0-97de-11e3-910c-771d54eec810.shtml#1\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em><font color=\"#0000ff\">Italian counterparts<\/font><\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><em>William Auge<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><font color=\"#646b86\">Bill has certainly whet my appetite, and I intend to try and find this book here in Italy.
