acquisire<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nto acquire \/ to obtain<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
acquattarsi<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nto crouch \/ to squat<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

You will also encounter ‘-cqu<\/strong>-‘ in il passato remoto <\/strong>(the historical past) of a handful of verbs:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
nascere<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nto be born, e.g. Giuseppe Verdi nacque a Busseto<\/strong> (Giuseppe Verdi was born in Busseto)<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
tacere<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nto become silent, e.g. tutti tacquero all’improvviso <\/strong>(suddenly everybody became silent)<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
piacere<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nto like, e.g. mi piacque molto Venezia <\/strong>(I really liked Venice)<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
