He removed the padding and stiff adhesive lining, changed the proportions, and moved the buttons, transforming a traditional formal design into something that is both smart and casual at the same time. Remember the scene from <strong>American Gigolo<\/strong> (1980) in which Richard Gere tries on several Armani outfits which sport those distinctive high waisted trousers? Then there was the cult 80\u2019s TV series <strong>Miami Vice<\/strong>: who liked Don Johnson\u2019s pastel coloured jackets worn over tight T-shirts?\u00a0 <strong>\u201cCosa?! la giacca senza neanche la camicia?\u201d<\/strong> (What?! In the 80\u2019s and 90\u2019s Armani suits were a must for women (especially Italian women) wishing to make a career and get powerful jobs.
