Those of you who follow our blog will have read about the latest addition to our household, little Amber: Part 1 – Lost and Found<\/font><\/strong><\/a> and Part 2 – Mittens for Kittens<\/font><\/strong><\/a>.  <\/font><\/strong>The first two posts were written in Italian with an English translation. Today, however, we\u2019ve decided to do things the other way round in order to show how to translate English into an Italian that sounds natural, and not like something taken directly from an Italian grammar book, or an online translation program. So, here\u2019s part three of our story: <\/font><\/p>\n

Amber\u2019s Antics<\/u><\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

This is really comfortable \u2013 questo <\/font><\/em><\/strong>s\u00ec che \u00e8 comodo!<\/font><\/em><\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Amber\u2019s territory is expanding day by day. She\u2019s gradually exploring all the accessible nooks and crannies of our house. About 80 per cent of our floor space has been conquered, including the dark and scary pantry.<\/p>\n

Il territorio di Ambra si espande giorno dopo giorno. Pian pianino sta esplorando tutti gli angolini e gli anfratti di casa nostra a lei accessibili. Circa l\u2019ottanta percento della superficie \u00e8 gi\u00e0 stato conquistato, compreso il buio e spaventoso ripostiglio.<\/strong><\/p>\n

What\u2019s limiting Amber right now is verticality, especially the going up bit. She has no problem dropping down off low surfaces, such as the sofa, and occasionally has an unexpected fall when trying to scratch behind her ear on the edge of the table!<\/p>\n

Attualmente ci\u00f2 che frena Ambra \u00e8 la verticalit\u00e0, specialmente per quel che riguarda <\/strong>l\u2019andare in su. Yes, for little Amber getting up onto things is a big challenge that requires both skill and creativity. It also provides us humans with hours of entertainment! This is my favourite of Amber\u2019s antics:<\/p>\n

An Adventure with Geoff\u2019s Trousers!<\/strong><\/font><\/u><\/p>\n

Serena and I are sitting on the sofa watching a film and Amber is exploring the living room floor. But now she\u2019s tired, and wants to snuggle up with us \u2026 way up there on the sofa. This is where the fun begins \u2026<\/p>\n

Serena ed io siamo seduti sul divano a guardare un film e Ambra sta esplorando il pavimento del soggiorno. Ma adesso \u00e8 stanca e vuole rannicchiarsi con noi \u2026 lass\u00f9 sul divano. Qui \u00e8 dove comincia il buffo \u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

So dear readers, do you like my lovely scarf?<\/font> – <\/em><\/strong>Allora cari lettori, vi piace la mia bella sciarpa? <\/font><\/em><\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

She scrambles up onto my foot and, after a bit of investigation, finds a cosy looking cavern \u2026 my trouser leg. I have my long legs stretched out in front of me, and here Amber discovers a lovely bed, just inside my trousers near my left ankle.<\/p>\n

Si arrampica sul mio piede e, dopo un po\u2019 di indagine, trova una caverna che sembra accogliente\u2026 la gamba dei miei pantaloni. Le mie lunghe gambe sono stese davanti a me e qui Ambra scopre un bel letto, appena dentro i miei pantaloni vicino alla caviglia sinistra.<\/strong><\/p>\n

My left ankle is now lovely and warm, and her long fluffy fur lightly tickles against my skin \u2026 very relaxing!<\/p>\n

La caviglia sinistra \u00e8 adesso bella calda, ed il suo lungo pelo soffice mi fa gentilmente il solletico sulla pelle \u2026 com\u2019\u00e8 rilassante!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

No Amber, you don\u2019t go inside my trousers!<\/font> – <\/em><\/strong>No Amber, dentro i pantaloni non ci si va! <\/font><\/em><\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

However, I soon discover that Amber\u2019s journey is far from over. After a few minutes\u2019 rest she continues her way up inside my baggy jeans, pausing every now and then for a nap. \u201cThis could be tricky\u201d I say to myself, \u201cThose little claws \u2026\u201d But amber is very considerate, and she\u2019s in no big hurry, after all it\u2019s warm and cosy in there.<\/p>\n

Ma ben presto scopro che il viaggio di Ambra \u00e8 tutt\u2019altro che finito. Dopo un riposino di qualche minuto continua il suo cammino su all\u2019interno dei miei jeans abbondanti, fermandosi di tanto in tanto per una pennichella. \u201cMi sa che questo sar\u00e0 un po\u2019 problematico\u201d mi dico, \u201cQuei piccoli artigli \u2026\u201d Ma Ambra \u00e8 molto premurosa, e non ha nessuna fretta, d’altronde \u00e8 caldo e confortevole qui.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cHow will it all end?\u201d you\u2019re wondering. \u201cWill Amber conquer Trouser Leg Tunnel? Will Geoff end up at the Accident and Emergency ward?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCome andr\u00e0 a finire?\u201d vi starete chiedendo. \u201cRiuscir\u00e0 Ambra a conquistare Tunnel Gamba dei Pantaloni? Finir\u00e0 al Pronto Soccorso Geoff?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Well \u2026 it all ended with me having to open my belt and unzip my trousers for an \u2018extraction\u2019, which was carried out by Serena.<\/p>\n

Ebbene \u2026 \u00e8 finita con me che ho dovuto slacciarmi la cintura e aprire i calzoni per una \u2018estrazione\u2019, effettuata da Serena.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now, I know that the previous paragraph, taken out of context, could be easily misunderstood. So, let me just remind you that it was Amber the kitten that had to be extracted. A task that was severely hampered by the fact that both Serena and I were in tears of laughter.<\/p>\n

Vabb\u00e8, lo so che il paragrafo precedente, fuori da ogni contesto, pu\u00f2 essere facilmente travisato. Perci\u00f2 lasciate che vi ricordi che era Ambra la micina quella che doveva essere estratta. Operazione severamente ostacolata dal fatto che sia io che Serena eravamo piegati in due dal ridere.<\/strong><\/p>\n
