In our first two blogs about Amber, the kitten that we rescued three weeks ago, Serena wrote the text in Italian followed by an English translation. In the third blog I wrote in English followed by an Italian translation. Well, here\u2019s part 4, and this time it\u2019s your turn dear readers. I\u2019m going to write a series of short sentences in English that retell the story of Amber, and I\u2019d like you to choose at least one of them, have a go at translating it into Italian, and post it as a comment. Of course, if you feel up to it you can translate as many of the sentences as you like!<\/p>\n

From Part 1:<\/font><\/a><\/p>\n

a. I found the kitten three weeks ago when I was out in the garden<\/p>\n

b. when Serena first saw what I\u2019d found she thought it was a dormouse (N.B. you\u2019ll need to use the subjunctive when you translate this sentence)<\/p>\n

c. the microscopic creature was completely dirty and mewing desperately<\/p>\n

d. it took me a long time to clean the kitten using the cat brush<\/p>\n

e. Serena warmed up some milk so that we could feed her<\/p>\n

f. the kitten was really hungry, it gobbled down the milk in the blink of an eye!<\/p>\n

g. she had one white front paw and one black one<\/p>\n

h. we put her in the cat carrier with my old cardigan, and she finally fell asleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

l. we name her Amber, or Ambra in Italian<\/p>\n

m. Amber learns something new every day<\/p>\n

n. she observes the other cats and copies what they do<\/p>\n

o. when she tries to scratch her ear with her back leg she falls over<\/p>\n

p. in a few days we should be able to start weaning her<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

s. watching Amber has become our favourite pastime<\/p>\n

t. when she decided to climb up inside my trousers we couldn\u2019t stop laughing!<\/p>\n

u. I don\u2019t think she\u2019ll do it again though, because she\u2019s getting too big<\/p>\n

Latest Headlines<\/font><\/u><\/p>\n

v. Amber has begun eating cat biscuits from a bowl<\/p>\n

w. she\u2019s also started using the litter tray, but doesn\u2019t always get there in time!<\/p>\n

x. our other cats are beginning to accept or at least tolerate her<\/p>\n

y. the two males, Smokey and Coc\u00f2 are very patient with her<\/p>\n

z. the four females less so, but we\u2019re gradually getting there.<\/p>\n

At the end of this week we\u2019ll publish our interpretations of the English text so that you can compare your solutions. Bare in mind that there may be several different ways to translate each sentence into Italian. We\u2019re looking forward to your translations.<\/p>\n
