Not having regular nine to five jobs, we tend to have our own orario<\/strong> (timetable). However, even if we do need to alzarci presto<\/strong> (get up early) we rarely have to use la sveglia<\/strong> (the alarm clock) because every morning a series of reliable events take place that make sure we don’t stay in bed too long.<\/span><\/p>\n

1. All’alba gli uccelli cominciano a cinguettare –<\/strong> The birds begin twittering at dawn<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Poco dopo tocca al gallo\u00a0 cantare –<\/strong> A short while later it’s the cockerel’s turn to sing<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Verso le sette i gatti vengono su a svegliarci, vogliono fare colazione –<\/strong> At around seven the cats come up to wake us, they want their breakfast<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Pi\u00f9 o meno contemporaneamente sentiamo i rintocchi delle campane della chiesa dall’altra parte della valle. Suonano l’Angelus Domini –<\/strong> More or less at the same time we hear the chiming of bells from the church on the other side of the valley. They ring the Angelus Domini<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

5. Mezz’ora dopo passa davanti alla nostra porta di casa il chiassoso motorino di Mauro che va a lavorare gi\u00f9 a Pontremoli <\/strong>– Half an hour later Mauro’s noisy scooter goes past our front door as he goes down to work in Pontremoli<\/span><\/p>\n

6. Se per le otto non ci siamo ancora svegliati, Coc\u00f2 il gatto comincia a sgridarci: ” Svegliatevi, gente pigra! C’ho fame e voglio uscire!” – <\/strong>If we are not up by eight o’clock, Coc\u00f2 the cat starts to tell us off: “Wake up, lazy folk! I’m hungry and I want to go out!”<\/span><\/p>\n

7. Altre cose devono ancora accadere prima delle nove. Arrivano i muratori col loro vecchio trattore scassato che tossisce lungo tutto il tragitto – <\/strong>There are still other things to come before nine o’clock. The builders arrive with their clapped out old tractor that coughs its way along the road<\/span><\/p>\n

8. Poi c’\u00e8 la ronzante Ape di Giorgione. Sappiamo che dentro la cabina microscopica ci saranno Giorgione, che \u00e8 enorme, e la sua piccola cagnetta sdraiata sul cruscotto –<\/strong> Then there is Giorgione’s buzzing Ape (Big Giorgio’s little three wheeler truck). We know that inside the microscopic cabin there will be Giorgione, who’s huge, and his little dog, which will be lying on the dashboard<\/span><\/p>\n

9. Va bene, va bene, ci arrendiamo! alziamoci e facciamo un po’ di chiasso anche noi! –<\/strong> Ok, Ok, we surrender! We’ll get up and make a bit of noise as well!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
