Google Trends analyses samples of these searches and tells us which of them are currently the most common. If you want to know more, follow this link: <a title=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/trends\/2014\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/trends\/2014\/\"><strong><font color=\"#0000ff\">A Year In Search 2014<\/font><\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">So, what have we been searching for, and do the results tell us anything about ourselves? I thought it might be fun to compare three categories of search results from the two cultures that I know best: Italy and The United Kingdom. I\u2019ve chosen: 1. Recipes, 2. Holiday destinations, and 3. How To \u2026?. The results are pretty interesting, as you can see below.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><font color=\"#4f81bd\" size=\"4\"><u><strong>Category 1. Tiramisu<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table><\/div>\n<p align=\"justify\">Not surprisingly (for me at least) over half of the most sought after recipes in Italy are traditional <font color=\"#800040\">Italian dishes<\/font>. At number 1 we have the simple, but ever popular <font color=\"#800040\">chiacchiere<\/font> (literally: chats). Never heard of them? Of the ten destinations most searched for on Google by Italians six are <font color=\"#f79646\">located in Italy<\/font>. Then we have Gozo, which is an island of the Maltese archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea, whilst both Krk and Pag are Croatian islands in the northern Adriatic Sea.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><font color=\"#4f81bd\" size=\"4\"><u><strong>Category 3. Of the ten top \u2018how to \u2026?\u2019 searched carried out by Italians five are <font color=\"#008040\">food related<\/font>. Then in fifth place we have <strong><font color=\"#c0504d\">Malocchio<\/font><\/strong>. The only result that in my opinion stands out as being fairly distinctively British is number ten <font color=\"#9b00d3\">\u2018How<\/font><font color=\"#9b00d3\"> to Wallpaper?\u2019<\/font><font color=\"#666666\">.<\/font> Wallpaper is not very common here in Italy but absolutely ubiquitous in the UK.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Finally, I\u2019m a bit worried that in second place in the UK charts we find <font color=\"#9b00d3\">\u2018How to Kiss?\u2019<\/font> Really! Now that\u2019s something I can\u2019t imagine finding in the Italian charts! <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><font color=\"#4f81bd\" size=\"3\"><em>What are your thoughts on these results dear readers?
