In the quiz we asked you to translate a number of sentences into Italian using the appropriate tense of the given verbs<\/font>. Here are the sentences with the correct answers:<\/p>\n

Past<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n

1. use the verb<\/font> andare<\/strong><\/font><\/em>: yesterday I went to Parma.
ieri sono andato\/andata a Parma<\/strong> (N.B. the choice of andato<\/strong> or andata<\/strong> depends on whether the speaker is male or female)<\/p>\n

2. use the verb <\/font>vedere<\/strong><\/font><\/em>: the other day I saw Luciano.
l\u2019altro giorno ho visto Luciano<\/strong>, or ho visto Luciano l\u2019altro giorno<\/strong><\/p>\n

3. use the verb <\/font>fare<\/strong> <\/font>(<\/strong>fare una visita<\/strong>)<\/strong><\/font><\/font><\/em>: the day before yesterday I went to see the doctor.
l\u2019atro ieri ho fatto una visita dal dottore<\/strong> (N.B. l\u2019altro ieri<\/strong>, literally: the other yesterday = the day before yesterday. You can also say ieri l\u2019altro<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

4. use the reflexive verb sentirsi<\/font><\/strong><\/em><\/font>: last week I didn\u2019t feel well
la settimana scorsa non mi sono sentito\/sentita bene<\/strong> (N.B. if you didn\u2019t feel well for the whole week you may want to say: non mi sentivo bene<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

5. use the verb <\/font>essere<\/strong><\/font><\/em>: last month I was in London for a week
il mese scorso sono stato\/stata a Londra per una settimana<\/strong><\/p>\n

6. use the verb <\/font>mangiare<\/strong><\/font><\/em>: yesterday evening we ate risotto
ieri sera abbiamo mangiato il risotto<\/strong><\/p>\n

Present<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n

2. use the verb <\/font>avere<\/strong><\/font><\/em>: I\u2019m not hungry at the moment
in questo momento<\/strong> non ho fame <\/strong><\/p>\n

3. use the verbs avere<\/font><\/strong> (avere sonno)<\/font><\/strong> and potere<\/strong><\/font><\/em><\/font>: I\u2019m not tired, I can\u2019t get to sleep
non ho sonno, non posso addormentarmi<\/strong><\/p>\n

4. use the verb fare<\/strong><\/font><\/em><\/font>: It\u2019s very cold today
oggi fa molto freddo<\/strong><\/p>\n

5. use the verb <\/font>dovere<\/strong><\/font><\/em>: we have to pay the phone bill today
