In our previous \u2018Helpful Labels\u2019 posts we looked at short, useful phrases which could be made into labels and placed strategically in relevant places around  the house.<\/p>\n

Today we are going out and about in the car. Sticking labels all over the interior of your car may not be very practical, so we\u2019ll leave it up to you to decide what works best. However, you can always keep a phrase list in the glove compartment, then next time you\u2019re stuck in a traffic jam you\u2019ll have something useful to keep your mind occupied!<\/p>\n

Here are some phrases which you should find helpful when talking about cars<\/font><\/u><\/strong><\/div>\n

apro la portiera<\/strong> or<\/em> lo sportello<\/strong> = I open the door<\/font><\/p>\n

chiudo la portiera<\/strong> or<\/em>  lo sportello<\/strong> = I close the door<\/font><\/p>\n

salgo in macchina<\/strong> = I get into the car<\/font><\/p>\n

scendo dalla macchina<\/strong> = I get out of the car<\/font><\/p>\n

allaccio la cintura di sicurezza<\/strong> = I fasten my seat belt<\/font><\/p>\n

slaccio la cintura di sicurezza<\/strong> = I unfasten my seat belt<\/font><\/p>\n

aggiusto il sedile<\/strong> = I adjust the seat<\/font><\/p>\n

guardo nello specchietto retrovisore<\/strong> = I look in the rear-view mirror<\/font><\/p>\n

abbasso il finestrino<\/strong> = I lower the window<\/font><\/p>\n

alzo il finestrino<\/strong> = I raise the window<\/font><\/p>\n

metto in moto la macchina<\/strong> = I start the car, or<\/em> <\/font>accendo il motore<\/strong> = I turn on the engine<\/font><\/p>\n

spengo il motore<\/strong> = I turn off the engine<\/font><\/p>\n

ingrano<\/strong> or<\/em> innesto la marcia<\/strong> = I shift into gear<\/font><\/p>\n

metto in folle<\/strong> = I shift into neutral<\/font><\/p>\n

metto il freno a mano<\/strong> = put on the handbrake<\/font><\/p>\n

tolgo il freno a mano<\/strong> = I take off the handbrake<\/font><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

metto la freccia a destra\/sinistra<\/strong> = I put the right\/left indicator on<\/font><\/p>\n

svolto a destra\/sinistra<\/strong> = I turn right\/left<\/font><\/p>\n

accendo i fari<\/strong> = I switch on the headlights<\/font><\/p>\n

accelero <\/strong>= I accelerate<\/font><\/p>\n

rallento<\/strong> = I slow down<\/font><\/p>\n

freno<\/strong> = I brake<\/font><\/p>\n

fermo la macchina<\/strong> = I stop the car<\/font><\/p>\n

faccio retromarcia<\/strong> = I reverse<\/font><\/p>\n

faccio benzina<\/strong> or<\/em> faccio il pieno<\/strong> = I put petrol\/gas in or<\/em> I fill up the tank<\/font><\/p>\n

suono il clacson<\/strong> = I honk the horn<\/font><\/p>\n

and finally \u2026\u2026. speriamo \u2026.. <\/font>guido la macchina!<\/strong> = I drive the car!<\/font><\/p>\n
