Preface by Geoff: Dear readers, when I opened the shutters and saw our valley transformed by an unexpected overnight snowfall, I immediately suggested to Serena that she described the vision in Italian for your edification. Little did I know that she would pen what to me is a rather beautiful poem \u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026.<\/font><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

C\u2019\u00e8 una luce strana questa mattina
che filtra dalle finestre ancora chiuse.
Anche i rumori sono diversi, sembrano attutiti<\/font>,
<\/font>la voce del fiume \u00e8 pi\u00f9 sommessa<\/font>. 
\u00c8 la neve!
<\/font>I fiocchi di neve volteggiano<\/font> nell\u2019aria,
leggeri e silenziosi, prima di cadere al suolo
avvolgendo<\/font> tutto in un soffice manto candido<\/font>. <\/font><\/p>\n

Cos\u00ec delicata e cos\u00ec forte allo stesso tempo,
i rami delle piante si piegano fin quasi a spezzarsi<\/font>
sotto il peso della neve leggera.
Le nere silhouette degli spogli<\/font> alberi
si stagliano come fantasmi contro lo <\/font>sfondo<\/font> della valle,
che ora scompare e ora riappare,
a seconda dei capricci<\/font> della neve turbinante<\/font>.<\/font><\/p>\n

\u00c8 un paesaggio magico, fatto di bianco e di delicatezza,
impossibile da descrivere senza le parole di un poeta.
Le ragioni scientifiche sono troppo prosaiche
per spiegare la tua misteriosa bellezza, neve! <\/font><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
