I must say that I really enjoyed reading the responses to my recent post Conversational Fragments<\/strong><\/a><\/span>. I love the fact that we have such imaginative readers, and I also find the responses very useful for gauging people\u2019s comprehension of the colloquial expressions that I tend to use in my articles.<\/span><\/p>\n

One such expression that really stood out as being in need of further explanation is non \u00e8 detto<\/span><\/strong><\/span>. Here are a few examples that highlight how it should be used:<\/span><\/p>\n

Michela:<\/span> oddio, ho messo la torta in forno dieci minuti fa e adesso non c\u2019\u00e8 pi\u00f9 gas \u2026 si roviner\u00e0!
\nGiovanna:<\/span> non, non \u00e8 detto<\/span><\/span>, se cambiamo subito la bombola e alziamo appena la temperatura vedrai che andr\u00e0 tutto bene.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Michaela:<\/span> oh god, I put the cake in the oven ten minutes ago and now the gas has run out \u2026 it\u2019ll be ruined!
\nGiovanna:<\/span> no, not necessarily<\/span><\/span>, if we change the gas bottle straight away and raise the temperature a bit it\u2019ll turn out fine, you\u2019ll see.<\/span><\/p>\n
