The article itself is not exactly headline material, but\u00a0 it does serve as a useful tool for a bit of grammatical analysis. Rather than translate everything, I\u2019ve picked out some key grammatical point and elaborated on them.<br \/>\nN.B. to those of our readers who are nicotine dependent: don\u2019t worry, I\u2019m not about to start preaching to you about your <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through\">filthy<\/span> habit \u2026. \ud83d\ude09<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">(a.) <\/span><\/em><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Quanto <span style=\"color: #9b00d3\">dovrebbero<\/span> costare le sigarette?<\/span> 13 euro a pacchetto, 13 euro e 7 centesimi<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><em>(b.) <\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">per la precisione<\/span>.<br \/>\n<\/strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">(a.)<\/span><\/em> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">How much <span style=\"color: #9b00d3\">should<\/span> cigarettes cost?:<\/span> <strong>dovrebbero<\/strong> is the third person plural conditional of the verb <strong>dovere<\/strong> = to have to. In its conditional form, <strong>dovere<\/strong> takes on the meaning of \u2018should\u2019, e.g. <strong>dovrei andare dal dentista<\/strong> = I should go to the dentist.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><em>(b.) <\/em><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">to be precise<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">(a.) <\/span><\/em><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Il prezzo ideale del pacchetto di sigarette <span style=\"color: #9b00d3\">\u00e8 stato<\/span><span style=\"color: #9b00d3\"> calcolato<\/span><\/span> prendendo in considerazione<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><em>(b.) <\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">il costo del fumo<\/span> per la societ\u00e0. La compagnia di consulenza economica Microeconomix ha portato avanti un dettagliato studio, pubblicato poi dal quotidiano francese Le Parisien.<br \/>\n<\/strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">(a.)<\/span><\/em> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">The ideal price of a packet of cigarettes <span style=\"color: #9b00d3\">has been<\/span> <span style=\"color: #9b00d3\">calculated<\/span><\/span>: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>\u00e8 stato calcolato<\/strong><\/span> is the passive form of the verb <strong>calcolare<\/strong> = to calculate, which in this case is in the present perfect.
