{"id":941,"date":"2011-09-16T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-09-16T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/?p=941"},"modified":"2011-09-16T08:00:00","modified_gmt":"2011-09-16T08:00:00","slug":"i-mestieri-nel-borgo-part-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/i-mestieri-nel-borgo-part-1\/","title":{"rendered":"I Mestieri nel Borgo &ndash; part 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"justify\">Every August in the little <strong>borgo<\/strong> of Ponticello in northern Tuscany, a&#160; fascinating and picturesque festival is held: <strong>I Mestieri nel Borgo, rievocazione storica della vita quotidiana di una piccola comunit\u00e0 contadina della Lunigiana<\/strong> = Trades in the village, historic re-enactment of the daily life of a small <font color=\"#000000\">peasant farmer<\/font> community in Lunigiana.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">This year, for the first time since we moved to Lunigiana, we managed to pay a visit to the festival. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we went back again a couple of days later. Quando le barre sono arroventate, il ciodin adopera un pesante martello e un\u2019incudine per dargli la forma dei chiodi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Here is the <strong>ciodin<\/strong> = the nail maker, who is heating small iron bars in the furnace using a small bellows. When the iron bars are red hot he uses a heavy hammer, and an anvil to shape them into nails. <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2011\/09\/Ponticello-2.jpg\" aria-label=\"Ponticello 2 Thumb\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px;padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;border-top-width: 0px;border-bottom-width: 0px;border-left-width: 0px;padding-top: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Ponticello 2\"  width=\"554\" height=\"416\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2011\/09\/Ponticello-2_thumb.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>La Filatrice e la Magliaia<\/strong> = The Spinner and the Knitter<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>La signora in primo piano sta filando la lana con l\u2019aiuto di un semplice fuso, mentre la sua amica fa una sciarpa con la lana<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The lady in the foreground is spinning wool using a simple spindle, while her friend knits the wool into a scarf<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2011\/09\/Ponticello-3.jpg\" aria-label=\"Ponticello 3 Thumb\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px;padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;border-top-width: 0px;border-bottom-width: 0px;border-left-width: 0px;padding-top: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Ponticello 3\"  width=\"416\" height=\"554\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2011\/09\/Ponticello-3_thumb.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>Il Moleta (L\u2019Arrotino)<\/strong> = The Knife Grinder <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>Il moleta \u00e8 il nome dialettale dell\u2019arrotino, che usa una mola a pedale per arrotare non solo coltelli, ma anche asce, falcetti, falci, e cos\u00ec via<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>Moleta<\/strong> is the name in dialect for the <strong>arrotino<\/strong>, who uses a pedal driven grinding wheel to sharpen not just knives but axes, sickles, scythes and so on<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2011\/09\/Ponticello-7.jpg\" aria-label=\"Ponticello 7 Thumb\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px;padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;border-top-width: 0px;border-bottom-width: 0px;border-left-width: 0px;padding-top: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Ponticello 7\"  width=\"554\" height=\"416\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2011\/09\/Ponticello-7_thumb.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>Gli Impagliatori<\/strong> = The Chair Menders<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>Impagliatore deriva dalla parola \u2018paglia\u2019, e letteralmente significa \u2018colui che riempie o copre cose con la paglia\u2019. Nella foto due impagliatori usano un corda fatta di canapa intrecciata per riparare i sedili di sedie di legno<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>Impagliatore<\/strong> derives from the word <strong>paglia<\/strong> = straw, and means literally \u2018the person who stuffs or covers things with straw\u2019. In the photo two <strong>impagliatori<\/strong> use string woven from hemp to repair the seats of wooden chairs<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2011\/09\/Ponticello-8.jpg\" aria-label=\"Ponticello 8 Thumb\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px;padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;border-top-width: 0px;border-bottom-width: 0px;border-left-width: 0px;padding-top: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Ponticello 8\"  width=\"416\" height=\"554\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2011\/09\/Ponticello-8_thumb.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>La Rammendatrice<\/strong> = The Mender<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>La rammendatrice, dal verbo \u2018rammendare\u2019, \u00e8 seduta fuori dal locale dove le lavandaie stanno stirando il bucato appena lavato. La rammendatrice usa ago e filo per cucire del pizzo ad una federa.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The <strong>rammendatrice<\/strong>, from the verb <strong>rammendare<\/strong> = to mend clothes\/to darn, is sitting outside the room where <strong>le lavandaie<\/strong> = the washer women, are ironing the freshly washed clothes.
