Today\u2019s article, \u2018Italian Stuffed Squirrel\u2019, has absolutely nothing to do with Italian cuisine!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #003366\">It begins, in fact,\u00a0with a cup of tea. The cup of tea that I describe <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/a-nice-cuppa-in-piazza\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #003366\">As we sit sipping the first \u2018real\u2019 cup of tea that Donatella had ever made (under my expert guidance of course), the conversation meanders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>\u201cHai visto quante noci ci sono quest\u2019anno?\u201d<\/strong> asks Lino<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>\u201cS\u00ec, infatti quel vostro albero davanti a casa nostra \u00e8 proprio strapieno\u201d<\/strong> I reply. <strong>\u201cMi sa che questo autunno mi divertir\u00f2 molto a osservare gli scoiattoli che corrono su e gi\u00f9 a raccogliersi le noci per l\u2019inverno.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>\u201cAh, ci sono anche gli scoiattoli che vanno su quel nostro albero?\u201d<\/strong> asks Renata.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>\u201cS\u00ec, ce n&#8217;\u00e8 un paio, e sono tanto belli. Sai, di quelli rosso marroni!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>\u201cMa che bello! a me piacciono gli scoiattoli \u2026 son carini \u2026 infatti ce ne ho di quelli imbalsamati che mi piacciono troppo!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/08\/ScoiattoloA-copia.jpg\" aria-label=\"ScoiattoloA Copia\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9831\"  alt=\"ScoiattoloA-copia\" width=\"535\" height=\"376\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/08\/ScoiattoloA-copia.jpg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/08\/ScoiattoloA-copia.jpg 400w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/08\/ScoiattoloA-copia-350x246.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 535px) 100vw, 535px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #003366\">Renata proceeds to tell us how every now and then she\u2019ll find\u00a0a dead squirrel by the side of the road, and because she loves them so much she&#8217;ll take them home and have them stuffed by a taxidermist.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>\u201cCe ne avevo quattro a casa mia, ma quattro porta male, quindi ne ho dato uno a Daniele <\/strong>(her son)<strong>\u2026\u00a0ma lui mi ha detto: ma dai mamma, non voglio animali morti in casa mia. Ma gli ho detto: te l\u2019ho portato, quindi te lo tieni!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #003366\">At this point Renata disappears off into the darkness towards Daniele\u2019s house, and leaves us to converse about stuffed animals.\u00a0About five minutes later\u00a0she reappears with a short stick like object in her hands.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>\u201cEccolo!\u201d<\/strong> she says, passing me the object.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>\u201cCavolo \u2026 \u00e8 questo il famoso scoiattolo imbalsamato?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u2026 and even if I\u2019m not a fan of stuffed animals, I have to admit that the taxidermist has done a beautiful job, and that it is indeed <strong>\u201cmolto carino\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/08\/didvff2myir-001.jpg\" aria-label=\"Didvff2myir 001\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9832\"  alt=\"didvff2myir-001\" width=\"535\" height=\"334\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/08\/didvff2myir-001.jpg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/08\/didvff2myir-001.jpg 640w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/italian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/08\/didvff2myir-001-350x219.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 535px) 100vw, 535px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>\u201cHo anche un fagiano\u201d<\/strong> announces Renata. <strong>\u201cAnni fa, quando mio marito era ancora in servizio (faceva il carabiniere), un suo collega ci ha dato un fagiano morto da mangiare. Io l\u2019avevo cominciato a pulire, e avevo gi\u00e0 strappato via la coda quando mi son detta, ma com\u2019\u00e8 bello &#8216;sto fagiano\u00a0\u2026. non lo voglio mangiare mica.
