Even though the counters sound the same, the kanji will be different, so look out for that as well.<\/p>\n<p>dai (<strong>\u4ee3<\/strong>) &#8211; used for generations or time period of\u00a0a reigning monarch<\/p>\n<p>dai (<strong>\u53f0<\/strong>) &#8211; This dai is used for machinery like cars, tv&#8217;s etc.<\/p>\n<p>ka (<strong>\u65e5<\/strong>) &#8211; used for certain days of the month<\/p>\n<p>ka (<strong>\u8ab2<\/strong>) &#8211; used for lessons<\/p>\n<p>ban (<strong>\u6669<\/strong>) &#8211; used for nights<\/p>\n<p>ban (<strong>\u756a<\/strong>) &#8211; used for sports matches (it can also be attached to numerals. Ex: ichiban (<strong>\u3044\u3061\u3070\u3093<\/strong>) = first<\/p>\n<p>hai (<strong>\u676f<\/strong>) &#8211; for cups, glasses<\/p>\n<p>hai (<strong>\u6557<\/strong>) &#8211; for losses in sports matches<\/p>\n<p>ji (<strong>\u6642<\/strong>) &#8211; for the hours of the day<\/p>\n<p>ji (<strong>\u5150<\/strong>) &#8211; for children<\/p>\n<p>ji (<strong>\u5b57<\/strong>) &#8211; for character letters (used a lot in reference to kanji)<\/p>\n<p>kai (<strong>\u968e<\/strong>) &#8211; number of floors<\/p>\n<p>kai (<strong>\u56de<\/strong>) &#8211; number of times or occurences<\/p>\n<p>koo (<strong>\u884c<\/strong>) &#8211; for banks<\/p>\n<p>koo (<strong>\u6821<\/strong>) &#8211; for schools<\/p>\n<p>ko (<strong>\u6238<\/strong>) &#8211; used for houses<\/p>\n<p>ko (<strong>\u500b&#8230;<\/strong>) &#8211; used for general measure words when there is no counter (other kanji&#8217;s can fall under this general measure counter)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This list contains some counters that have the same pronunciation but different uses.
