Hopefully, the list of Kanji&#8217;s I put together was something you can easily memorize and become familiar with. While researching about my next topic of Kanji Challenge, I came across this great site that has 50 of the basic Kanji&#8217;s with its pronunciation and few other vocabulary to go with each one of them. If you are interested, check it out here.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coscom.co.jp\/japanesekanji\/kanji50\/index.html\">Essential Kanji 200\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can learn about the first 50 they have listed without membership. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In today&#8217;s post, I would like to introduce you to simple Kanji&#8217;s but something useful in that you could apply to your basic Japanese studying as well, which is about Japanese counter words.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Counter words<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Counter words, which is called Josushi (\u3058\u3087\u3059\u3046\u3057\u3001\u52a9\u6570\u8a5e) in Japanese are used along with numbers to count things. \u00a0When you count anything, counter word is necessary to go along with the number.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>10 Most common Japanese counter words<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>1) Tou (\u982d\u3001\u3068\u3046) &#8211; large animals, such as horse, cows, elephants, etc..<\/p>\n<p>Example: \u4e09\u982d\u306e\u725b\u304c\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\u3055\u3093\u3068\u3046\u306e\u3000\u3046\u3057\u304c\u3000\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002(There are three cows.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>2) Hon, Bon (\u672c\u3001\u307b\u3093\u3001\u307c\u3093) &#8211;\u00a0Long thin objects, such as carrots, pencils, sticks, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Example: \u4eca\u65e5\u3001\u4eba\u53c2\u3092\uff15\u672c\u8cb7\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u304d\u3087\u3046\u3001\u306b\u3093\u3058\u3093\u3092\u3000\u3054\u307b\u3093\u3000\u304b\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002(I bought 5 carrots today.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>3) Nin (\u4eba\u3001\u306b\u3093) &#8211;\u00a0People<\/p>\n<p>Example:\u79c1\u306e\u5bb6\u65cf\u306f\uff14\u4eba\u3067\u3059\u3002\u308f\u305f\u3057\u306e\u3000\u304b\u305e\u304f\u306f\u3000\u3088\u306b\u3093\u3000\u3067\u3059\u3002(We have 4 people in my family.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>4) Hiki, Piki (\u5339\u3001\u3072\u304d\u3001\u3073\u304d) &#8211; Small animals, insects, fish etc..<\/p>\n<p>Example: \u79c1\u306f\u3001\u9b5a\u3092\uff11\uff12\u5339\u3000\u98fc\u3063\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\u308f\u305f\u3057\u306f\u3001\u3055\u304b\u306a\u3092\u3000\u3058\u3085\u3046\u306b\u3072\u304d\u3000\u304b\u3063\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002(I have 12 fish.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>5) Soku (\u8db3\u3001\u305d\u304f) -socks, shoes.<\/p>\n<p>Example: \u4eca\u65e5\u3001\u65b0\u3057\u3044\u9774\u4e0b\u3092\uff12\u8db3\u8cb7\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u304d\u3087\u3046\u3000\u3042\u305f\u3089\u3057\u3044\u3000\u304f\u3064\u3057\u305f\u3092\u3000\u306b\u305d\u304f\u3000\u304b\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002(I bought two new pairs of socks today.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>6) Ken (\u8ed2\u3001\u3051\u3093) &#8211; House<\/p>\n<p>Example: \u79c1\u306e\u5bb6\u306f\u3001\u89d2\u304b\u3089\u4e8c\u8ed2\u76ee\u3067\u3059\u3002\u308f\u305f\u3057\u306e\u3044\u3048\u306f\u3000\u304b\u3069\u304b\u3089\u3000\u306b\u3051\u3093\u3081\u3067\u3059\u3002(My house is the second house from the corner.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>7) Seki (\u96bb\u3001\u305b\u304d) &#8211;\u00a0Boat, ship<\/p>\n<p>Example: \u4e09\u96bb\u306e\u8239\u304c\u898b\u3048\u307e\u3059\u3002\u3055\u3093\u305b\u304d\u306e\u3000\u3075\u306d\u304c\u3000\u307f\u3048\u307e\u3059\u3002(I see three boats.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>8) Sara (\u76bf\u3001\u3055\u3089) &#8211; Plate<\/p>\n<p>Example: \u304a\u76bf\u3092\u56db\u76bf\u4e0b\u3055\u3044\u3002\u304a\u3055\u3089\u3092\u3000\u3088\u3093\u3055\u3089\u3000\u304f\u3060\u3055\u3044\u3002(Please give me four plates.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>9) Mai (\u679a\u3001\u307e\u3044) &#8211; Thin flat objects, such as sheets of paper, photographs, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Example: \u3053\u306e\u98fe\u308a\u3092\u4f5c\u308b\u306e\u306b\u3001\u6298\u308a\u7d19\u3092\uff12\u679a\u4f7f\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u3053\u306e\u304b\u3056\u308a\u3092\u3000\u3064\u304f\u308b\u306e\u306b\u3000\u304a\u308a\u304c\u307f\u3092\u3000\u306b\u307e\u3044\u3000\u3064\u304b\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002(I used 2 origami papers to make this decoration.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>10) Pai, Bai (\u676f\u3001\u3071\u3044\u3001\u3070\u3044) &#8211;\u00a0Cups and glasses of drink.<\/p>\n<p>Example: \u725b\u4e73\u3092\uff13\u676f\u98f2\u307f\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u304e\u3085\u3046\u306b\u3085\u3046\u3092\u3000\u3055\u3093\u3070\u3044\u3000\u306e\u307f\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002(I drank three cups of milk.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The last Kanji Challenge was all about the one character Kanji&#8217;s.
