\u3042\u306e\u4eba\u304c\u52a0\u85e4\u3055\u3093\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046<\/strong> = That person over there\u00a0is probably Mr. Kat\u014d.<\/p>\n

(\u3042\u306e<\/strong> = that over there. \u3072\u3068<\/strong>\/\u4eba<\/strong> = person. \u304c<\/strong> = particle. \u304b\u3068\u3046<\/strong>\/\u52a0\u85e4<\/strong> = Kat\u014d. \u3055\u3093<\/strong> = Mr. \u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046 <\/strong>= probably)<\/p>\n

If you want to indicate the possibility of something or someone not being someone or something :<\/p>\n

\u3042\u306e\u4eba\u65e5\u672c\u4eba\u3058\u3083\u306a\u3044\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046<\/strong> = That person over there is probably not a Japanese person.<\/p>\n

(\u3042\u306e<\/strong> = That over there. \u3072\u3068<\/strong>\/\u4eba<\/strong> = person. \u306b\u307b\u3093\u3058\u3093<\/strong>\/\u65e5\u672c\u4eba<\/strong> = Japanese person. \u3058\u3083\u306a\u3044<\/strong> = not. \u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046<\/strong> = probably)<\/p>\n

When \u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046<\/strong> is used with nouns, like the examples above, just tack \u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046<\/strong> to the end of the sentence. When it is used with verbs, don’t conjugate the verbs. Leave them in the dictionary form.<\/p>\n

\u7530\u6751\u3055\u3093\u306f\u5348\u5f8c\u4e5d\u6642\u307e\u3067\u306b\u5e30\u308b\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046<\/strong> = Mr. Tamura will probably return by 9 pm.<\/p>\n

(\u305f\u3080\u3089<\/strong>\/\u7530\u6751<\/strong> = Tamura. \u3055\u3093<\/strong> = Mr. \u306f<\/strong> = particle. \u3054\u3054<\/strong>\/\u5348\u5f8c<\/strong> = pm. \u304f<\/strong>\/\u4e5d<\/strong> = 9. \u3058<\/strong>\/\u6642<\/strong> = o’clock. \u307e\u3067\u306b<\/strong> = by. \u304b\u3048\u308b<\/strong>\/\u5e30\u308b<\/strong> = return. \u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046 <\/strong>= probably)<\/p>\n

Like the sentence above, \u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046 <\/strong>can also be used to express the probability of events that may or may not happen in the future. Even adjectives can be used with \u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046<\/strong> :<\/p>\n

\u30ab\u30ea\u30d5\u30a9\u30eb\u30cb\u30a2\u306f\u6696\u304b\u3044\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046<\/strong> = It’s probably warm in California<\/p>\n

(\u30ab\u30ea\u30d5\u30a9\u30eb\u30cb\u30a2<\/strong> = California. \u306f<\/strong> = particle. \u3042\u305f\u305f\u304b\u3044<\/strong>\/\u6696\u304b\u3044<\/strong> = warm. \u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046<\/strong> = probably)<\/p>\n

The sentence above used an \u3044 adjective, but \u306a <\/strong>adjectives work as well :<\/p>\n

\u305d\u306e\u5148\u751f\u306f\u89aa\u5207\u3058\u3083\u306a\u3044\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046<\/strong> = That\u00a0teacher is probably not kind<\/p>\n
