The particle \u306b<\/strong> plus a motion verb can be used to express purpose :<\/p>\n

\u30ec\u30b9\u30c8\u30e9\u30f3\u306b\u30ab\u30ec\u30fc\u3092\u98df\u3079\u306b\u884c\u304d\u307e\u3057\u305f<\/strong> = I went to the restaurant to eat curry.(Or, I went to the restaurant for the purpose of eating curry. Or, I went to the restaurant in order to eat curry.)<\/p>\n

(\u30ec\u30b9\u30c8\u30e9\u30f3<\/strong> = restaurant. \u306b<\/strong> = to. \u30ab\u30ec\u30fc<\/strong> = curry. \u3092<\/strong> = particle. \u305f\u3079<\/strong>\/\u98df\u3079<\/strong> = eat. \u306b<\/strong> = to. \u3044\u304d\u307e\u3057\u305f<\/strong>\/\u884c\u304d\u307e\u3057\u305f<\/strong> = went)<\/p>\n

To express a sentence for the purpose of doing something, use this formula :<\/p>\n

Location\/destination + \u306b<\/strong> + purpose + \u306b<\/strong> + motion verb.<\/p>\n

Using the example above :<\/p>\n

The location\/destination\u00a0 = \u30ec\u30b9\u30c8\u30e9\u30f3<\/strong> (restaurant)<\/p>\n

+ \u306b<\/strong> (to)<\/p>\n

Purpose = \u98df\u3079<\/strong> (eat curry)<\/p>\n

+ \u306b<\/strong> (to)<\/p>\n

Motion verb = \u884c\u304d\u307e\u3057\u305f<\/strong> (went)<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s another example using this formula :<\/p>\n

\u5f7c\u306f\u82b1\u3084\u306b\u82b1\u3092\u8cb7\u3044\u306b\u6765\u307e\u3057\u305f<\/strong> = He came to the flower shop to buy flowers. (Or, he came to the flower shop for the purpose of buying flowers. Or he came to the flower shop in order to buy flowers.)<\/p>\n

(\u304b\u308c<\/strong>\/\u5f7c<\/strong> = He. \u306f<\/strong> = particle. \u306f\u306a<\/strong>\/\u82b1 <\/strong>= shop. \u3084<\/strong> = shop. \u306b<\/strong> = to. \u306f\u306a<\/strong>\/\u82b1 <\/strong>= flower. \u3092<\/strong> = particle. \u304b\u3044<\/strong>\/\u8cb7\u3044<\/strong> = buy. \u306b<\/strong> = to. \u304d\u307e\u3057\u305f<\/strong>\/\u6765\u307e\u3057\u305f<\/strong> = came)<\/p>\n
