What are some of your goals for this year in terms of learning Japanese? I have received some comments from readers where they want to focus on reading basic Hiragana’s (平仮名、ひらがな), and others are more into learning Kanji’s (漢字、かんじ). How about yours?

Are you into learning basic day to day conversational style Japanese? or are you interested in more of a business Japanese that you can use at work place? Whatever your goal is, the important thing is to keep learning, and I hope I can be a useful resource for you in your learning journey.

There are many ways to learn language out there, but this blog is here for you to teach you something useful in an most effective way. That is my goal of writing this blog this year. There might be some posts that you might not be interested in reading, so if you come across those, just skip it and wait for my next post. 🙂 You might come across the subject that you might really like, and might want to learn further. Then, please let me know by leaving your feedback in the comment section. 🙂

My topic is pretty much based on what I believe is useful and beneficial for you all out there. It’s not easy to be a true bilingual, who knows how to speak, write, and read the another language properly. Perhaps, learning a language is a lifelong journey as there is always something new to learn even in your own language.

Staring this month, I will pick a word of the month for you to learn by using different examples. If you don’t have time to learn all of the post, just learn the word of the month and its single sentence that might interest you. By the end of the year, you will know at least 12 Japanese words with its related useful sentences. Here is the word of the month for January.

〜すぎ, 〜過ぎ　（~Sugi, Too much~）

Too much studying = 勉強し過ぎ、べんきょうしすぎ, benkyo shisugi

You have been studying too much recently.
