The Japan Post hires <u>part-time workers \u00a0<\/u>(\u30a2\u30eb\u30d0\u30a4\u30c8 arubaito) to sort and deliver those \u5e74\u8cc0\u72b6 on the first day of New Year.\u00a0 We used to get so many cards on New Year\u2019s Day.\u00a0Most cards were for my father, but I used to get a good number of cards from friends.\u00a0 Sometimes, you received a card from unexpected friends, and you needed to write cards back and post them immediately.\u00a0 We continued to get the card until around January 7<sup>th<\/sup>or so. Even for a child, it was an important social <u>obligation\u00a0<\/u>(\u7fa9\u52d9gimu)!\u00a0 It was also a good chance to show off your artistic talent on the card.\u00a0 However, because of the internet and SNS, well you guessed it, the \u5e74\u8cc0\u72b6 has been declining for years.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.garbagenews.net\/archives\/2114695.html\">http:\/\/www.garbagenews.net\/archives\/2114695.html<\/a>, the record number of \u5e74\u8cc0\u72b6 issued at the Japan Post was\u00a0 4,459,360,000 in 2003.\u00a0 Please be reminded that the numbers represent the\u5e74\u8cc0\u72b6 issued at the Japan Post and it does not include store-bought \u5e74\u8cc0\u72b6.\u00a0\u00a0 Since sold.\u00a0COVID-19 has been making it difficult to see family and friends who live far away, and some people have chosen to use \u5e74\u8cc0\u72b6 this year.\u00a0 As a result, the number of \u5e74\u8cc0\u72b6\u00a0 purchased for individual use rose in 2021, while business use has declined.\u00a0Overall, the number has declined as expected.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Means of expression have changed from\u5e74\u8cc0\u72b6 to social networking service, but the greetings phrases remain the same.\u00a0 But remember, there are so many levels of politeness and ways to express
