It means one that is in the place to apologize starts getting angry instead.<\/p>\n<p>Mori started his apology speech by saying that he would take back or retract the comments. The term is <u>\u64a4\u56de\u3059\u308b<\/u>(tekkaisuru). You can take your words back. \u00a0All should be forgotten like the old Japanese set-phrase \u2013 <u>flush in water<\/u>(\u6c34\u306b\u6d41\u3059mizuni nagasu), meaning \u201cforgive and forget. Initially, IOC did not make a big deal about the sexist comments because Mori had \u201ctaken his words back\u201duntil the sponsors started to issue statements to condemn Mori\u2019s remarks.<\/p>\n<p>In his resignation interview on February 12, Mori apologized for his \u201c<u>inappropriate<\/u>(\u4e0d\u9069\u5207\u306afutekisetsuna)\u201d remarks that had caused many problems, but he claimed that he had been victimized as an \u201c<u>old fart<\/u>(\u8001\u5bb3rougai)\u201d and was treated unfairly by the media.<\/p>\n<p>But Mori\u2019s leaving the committee will not end society\u2019s struggle against gender discrimination.<\/p>\n<p>To be fair, there are people who say that the media and some people only read certain parts of his speech and unfairly criticized him, or he was being bullied.\u00a0 I did read itin its entirety, and my opinion remains the same. The general sentiment was that Japan had to prove to the world that it would not tolerate sexism.
