{"id":7002,"date":"2021-08-23T18:34:26","date_gmt":"2021-08-23T18:34:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/japanese\/?p=7002"},"modified":"2021-08-23T18:34:26","modified_gmt":"2021-08-23T18:34:26","slug":"skater-words-hit-the-national-tv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/japanese\/skater-words-hit-the-national-tv\/","title":{"rendered":"Skater Words hit the National TV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tokyo Olympics is over, and Japan has been seeing the COVID-19 number making the record every day.\u00a0 But I am not going to talk about that.\u00a0 I am going to write about a Japanese skateboard commentator that has been attracting many Japanese\u2019s attention in a good way.<\/p>\n<p>Skateboard was introduced in the Olympics for the first time.\u00a0 Skateboarders, in general (\u901a\u5e38 tsuujyo), are considered hip and not like the traditional athletes (\u904b\u52d5\u9078\u624b undo senshu) that Japanese people think of.\u00a0 NHK, the Japanese public broadcasting company, broadcast the competition on TV and invited Ryo Sejiri, a skateboarder, as a commentator.\u00a0 Sejiri was not a regular commentator but very passionate and very \u201cstreet\u201d, bringing a breath of fresh air to the Olympics broadcasting.\u00a0 Viewers reacted to him saying he was \u201ceasy to understand\u201d and \u00a0he was like their friends.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u3010\u30aa\u30ea\u30f3\u30d4\u30c3\u30af\u3011\u30b9\u30b1\u30fc\u30c8\u30dc\u30fc\u30c9\u89e3\u8aac\u8005\u3001\u702c\u5c3b\u51cc\u3055\u3093\u306e\u53cd\u5fdc\u30fb\u89e3\u8aac\u96c6\u3010Twitter\u30671000RT\u3011\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xRKHe3Wn0q0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Sejiri conversed with Taisei Kurata, a commercial TV station announcer as the Olympic games were broadcast by the consortium of broadcasters. For instance, in a Japanese sports club at school, age plays an important role.\u00a0 Kouhai (\u5f8c\u8f29 junior) must show respect to \u201csenpai\u201d (\u5148\u8f29 senior).\u00a0 A kouhai can use \u30b9\u4f53 to address his senpai to show his respect and friendliness at the same time.\u00a0 Sejiri, however, used \u30b9\u4f53 to his junior, which was new, according to Prof. Nakamura.
