Enka music is especially popular with the postwar generation in Japan. To this generation, Enka songs bring back some of the nostalgia of the \u201cgood old days\u201d as well as memories of hardship and poverty.<\/p>\n<p>Hachiro Kasuga (<strong>\u6625\u65e5\u516b<\/strong><strong>\u90ce<\/strong><strong><\/strong>) is considered the first Enka singer. His hit song was &#8220;Wakare no Ipponsugi&#8221; (<strong>\u5225\u308c\u306e<\/strong><strong>\u4e00\u672c<\/strong><strong>\u6749<\/strong><strong><\/strong>,) which means \u201cFarewell One Cedar\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1HMTin1P4Cw\">http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1HMTin1P4Cw<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hibari Misora (<strong>\u7f8e\u7a7a\u3072\u3070\u308a<\/strong><strong><\/strong>) is the queen of Enka music. My favorite song sung by her is Ringo Oiwake (<strong>\u30ea\u30f3\u30b4<\/strong><strong>\u8ffd<\/strong><strong>\u5206<\/strong><strong><\/strong>) or Apple Forked Road.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5kQvvbroSWE\">http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5kQvvbroSWE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jero (<strong>\u30b8\u30a7\u30ed<\/strong><strong><\/strong>) is an African American of Japanese descent. He\u2019s dressed like a rapper, but as you can see in &#8220;Umiyuki&#8221; (<strong>\u6d77\u96ea<\/strong>) (Ocean Snow), he has the \u201cEnka voice\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vmf1oyo6_WI\">http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vmf1oyo6_WI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You may not like Enka music, but at one time Enka music dominated the Japanese music industry.
