To see just how great these paintings are, let\u2019s take a look at a few of these paintings.<\/p>\n<p>Sessh\u016b T\u014dy\u014d (<strong>\u96ea\u821f\u7b49<\/strong><strong>\u694a<\/strong>) is considered one of the greatest Japanese artists of all time. One of his most well known paintings is \u201cshihon bokuga tansai ama no hashidatezu\u201d (<strong>\u7d19\u672c\u58a8\u753b\u6de1\u5f69\u5929\u6a4b\u7acb\u56f3<\/strong>) which means \u201cView ofAma no Hashidate\u201d. This painting is drawn in a realistic bird\u2019s eye view of a mountain, which was a radical break from the paintings that were influenced by Chinese aesthetics.<\/p>\n<p>Tawaraya S\u014dtatsu (<strong>\u4ff5\u5c4b<\/strong><strong>\u5b97<\/strong><strong>\u9054<\/strong>) was a master painter who rose to paint in the royal court. He developed an original style of painting that utilized black ink as a color and was known for his bold lines. One of his paintings is called \u201cshihon bokuga renchi suikinzu\u201d (<strong>\u7d19\u672c\u58a8\u753b\u84ee\u6c60\u6c34\u79bd<\/strong><strong>\u56f3<\/strong>) or \u201cWater Fowl in the Lotus Pond\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Uragami Gyokud\u014d (<strong>\u6d66\u4e0a\u7389<\/strong><strong>\u5802<\/strong>) was actually known as a famous musician when he was alive, but after his death his paintings became popular. One of his paintings is called \u201cshihon bokuga t\u014dunshisetsuzu\u201d (<strong>\u7d19\u672c\u58a8\u753b\u51cd\u96ea\u7be9\u96f2\u56f3<\/strong>) or Snow Sifted Through Frozen Clouds. His works often feature bold brushstrokes that have a steady pattern.<\/p>\n<p>Maruyama \u014ckyo (<strong>\u5713\u5c71\u61c9<\/strong><strong>\u8209<\/strong>) used Western styles of painting such as highlighting shadows and using realistic proportions. His paintings are very realistic and unapologetic; almost to the point where they are undignified and without sentiment. One of his paintings is called \u201cshihontansai yukimatsuzu\u201d (<strong>\u7d19\u672c\u6de1\u5f69\u96ea\u677e<\/strong><strong>\u56f3<\/strong>) or \u201c Pine Trees in Snow\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Ike no Taiga (<strong>\u6c60\u5927<\/strong><strong>\u96c5<\/strong>) was born from a poor family of farmers. However, he was talented enough to become a professional painter by age 14. One of his paintings is called \u201cshihonkinjichoshoku r\u014dkakusan suizu\u201d (<strong>\u7d19\u672c\u91d1\u5730\u8457\u8272\u697c\u95a3\u5c71\u6c34\u56f3<\/strong>) which is a painting of a Chinese landscape.
