Have you ever wandered about in a convenience store in South Korea? For a a lot of new comers, it’s hard enough trying to figure out what all those strange letters mean, not to mention the headache of trying to pay for it. Hopefully, this post will straighten out some curiosities that you might have with Korean currency.<\/p>\n

Let’s take a look at the coins first.<\/p>\n

\u20a91<\/strong> : has the \ubb34\uad81\ud654<\/strong>\u00a0 on one side of the coin and the numeral one on the other side of the coin. The \ubb34\uad81\ud654<\/strong> is South Korea’s national flower.\u00a0
\n\u20a95<\/strong> : has the \uac70\ubd81\uc120<\/strong>\u00a0or turtle ship on one side and the numeral five on the other side. The \uac70\ubd81\uc120<\/strong> is the warship responsible for defeating the multiple Japanese invasions of 1592-1598.<\/p>\n

\u20a910<\/strong> : has the \ub2e4\ubcf4\ud0d1<\/strong>. The \ub2e4\ubcf4\ud0d1<\/strong> is a temple in South Korea. It’s considered one Korea’s architectural treasures.<\/p>\n

\u20a950<\/strong> : has a stalk of rice.<\/p>\n

\u20a9100<\/strong> : has General \uc774\uc21c\uc2e0<\/strong> on one side. General \uc774\uc21c\uc2e0 <\/strong>was one of Korea’s most loved generals.<\/p>\n
