I am accustomed to both English and Korean languages and cultures, and I greatly appreciate and love both of them. I currently work as a freelance interpreter and translator for the public school system and have helped many Korean families with limited English proficiency. I have experience teaching Korean, English, and music to people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

I am passionate about learning different languages, and I have studied English, Japanese, and Spanish. Besides improving my language skills, I love to sing, play the piano, travel, and read books.

I am very excited to have this opportunity to write on Korean language and culture. When I taught Korean classes to American students, I was overwhelmed by my students’ interest and enthusiasm. I was on cloud nine with excitement to share my experience and knowledge in language learning and cultural aspects.

When it comes to learning a new language, I have been in your shoes; therefore, we already have something in common. As English connected me to the American people and culture here, I hope my contribution to this blog will help you to connect with your Korean friends, co-workers, and family members. I also hope this blog will help you to broaden your perspective on the Korean culture and make your Korean learning more enjoyable.

As you are aware, obtaining proficiency in a foreign language takes patience and commitment. So~ I would like to tell you, “힘내세요! (Cheer up!)

♥ What is your favorite Korean word?

Why don’t you introduce yourself to me and tell me about your favorite Korean word?

I look forward to hearing about it…

◊ Introducing yourself in Korean

    · 안녕하세요, 저는 ____________예요/이에요. (Hello, I am ____________.)

*저는 When your name ends in a vowel예요 ending :

Ex) 저는 경화예요. (I am Kyung-Hwa.)

*저는 When your name ends in a consonant이에요. ending :

Ex) 저는 스티븐이에요. (I am Stephen.)

◊ Click HERE for pronunciation.

                   한국어 English

             1. 안녕하세요?
