\ub3c8\uc774 \uc5c6\uae30 \ub54c\ubb38\uc5d0 \ub300\ud559\uad50\ub97c \ubabb \ub2e4\ub154\uc5b4\uc694<\/strong> = I couldn’t attend college because I don’t have money<\/p>\n

(\ub3c8<\/strong> = money. \uc774<\/strong> = particle. \uc5c6\uae30 \ub54c\ubb38\uc5d0<\/strong> = because I don’t have. \ub300\ud559\uad50<\/strong> = college. \ub97c<\/strong> = particle. \ubabb \ub2e4\ub154\uc5b4\uc694<\/strong> = couldn’t attend.)<\/p>\n

The clause “because I don’t have money” is placed at the beginning of the sentence in Korean (\ub3c8\uc774 \uc5c6\uae30 \ub54c\ubb38\uc5d0<\/strong>) and then the rest of the sentence which is, “I couldn’t attend college” (\ub300\ud559\uad50\ub97c \ubabb \ub2e4\ub154\uc5b4\uc694<\/strong>)\u00a0is placed behind the “because” clause.<\/p>\n

Compare the sentence above with the sentence below :<\/p>\n

\ub3c8\uc774 \uc5c6\uc5c8\uae30 \ub54c\ubb38\uc5d0 \ub300\ud559\uad50\ub97c \ubabb \ub2e4\ub154\uc5b4\uc694<\/strong> = I couldn’t attend college because I didn’t have the money<\/p>\n

With the second sentence, the first clause in Korean is \uc5c6\uc5c7\uae30 \ub54c\ubb38\uc5d0<\/strong>, but the first clause in the first sentence is \uc5c6\uae30 \ub54c\ubb38\uc5d0<\/strong>. The second sentence has the first clause in the past tense, so it’s going to be “didn’t have” as opposed to the first sentence, which means “don’t have”.<\/p>\n
