The official monetary unit in South Korea is \uc6d0 <\/em><\/span>(won), and this \u20a9 symbol represents \uc6d0<\/em><\/span>. For example, you can either write down the amount as \uc0bc\ucc9c \uc6d0<\/em><\/span> (three thousand won) in words or \u20a93,000 with the symbol.<\/p>\n

                Depending on the amount of money, there are singular and plural forms of \u201cdollar\u201d in English. However, in Korean this word\u00a0\uc6d0<\/em> <\/span>is used for both singular and plural forms. One useful tip, \uc624\ucc9c \uc6d0 <\/em><\/span>and\uc624\ub9cc \uc6d0 <\/em><\/span>are similar in color, so I would recommend you to pay close attention to them in order to avoid their mix-ups especially at night time.<\/p>\n
