There are generally two national holidays in October of every year, but there will be three of them this October. In this article, we will talk about three official holidays that take place in October of 2017. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\uac1c\ucc9c\uc808<\/em><\/span> (the national Foundation Day) and <span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud55c\uae00\ub0a0<\/em><\/span> (the Hangeul Proclamation Day) are the two holidays that are usually in October. Interestingly, one of the most celebrated Korean holidays <span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ucd94\uc11d<\/em> <\/span>(Chuseok) falls on October 4<sup>th<\/sup> in 2017. Every year, a small ceremony is held at <span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ucc38\uc131\ub2e8<\/em> <\/span>(Chamsungdan) on <span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ub9c8\ub2c8\uc0b0<\/em> <em>\uc815\uc0c1<\/em><\/span> (Mani Mountain Peak) in <span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\uac15\ud654\ub3c4<\/em><\/span> (Kwanghwa province). There are many parades and festivals throughout the country to celebrate the\u00a0<span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\uac1c\ucc9c\uc808<\/em><\/span> .<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud55c\uae00\ub0a0<\/em><\/span> (the Hangeul Proclamation Day) is on October 9 of every year, and it is a day to honor the creation of the Korean alphabet. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/korean\/the-scientific-and-phonetic-korean-script-%ed%95%9c%ea%b8%80hangeul-1\/\"><span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud55c\uae00<\/em><\/span> (Korean script)<\/a> was created by King Sejong, and October 9, 2017 will be the 571st year since the <span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud55c\uae00<\/em><\/span> system was announced in 1446. There will be special events or various exhibitions that you can go to celebrate\u00a0<span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud55c\uae00\ub0a0<\/em><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ucd94\uc11d<\/em><\/span> (Chuseok) is one of the most celebrated holidays in Korea, and it is very similar to a Thanksgiving in America. Koreans observe <span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ucd94\uc11d<\/em><\/span>\u00a0 on the 15<sup>th<\/sup> of August of the lunar calendar, and <span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ucd94\uc11d<\/em><\/span>\u00a0 takes place on October 4<sup>th<\/sup> this year. People usually take three days off from work. People will wear <span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud55c\ubcf5<\/em> <\/span>(traditional Korean attire), honor their ancestors with \u00a0<span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ucc28\ub840<\/em><\/span> (an ancestral ritual), and enjoy a great feast with their loved ones. <span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\uc1a1\ud3b8<\/em><\/span> (special rice cake eaten during <span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ucd94\uc11d\u00a0<\/em><\/span>) is one of the special food that Koreans make to celebrate <span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ucd94\uc11d<\/em><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Due to the special circumstances of the Korean holidays this year, the Korean government announced the October 2<sup>nd<\/sup> and 6<sup>th<\/sup> as temporary holidays.
