Do you know how to say \u201ccheer up\u201d in Korean to your family members, friends, or co-workers?<\/p>\n<p>Do you have a good strategy to de-stress, encourage, or motivate yourself or others?<\/p>\n<p>I enjoy starting my day with a hot cup of black coffee and good music. This 15-20 minutes of my morning ritual always helps me to clear my head and mind to embrace every day as a new start. The days that I cannot keep up with this routine, my days feel longer and harder.<\/p>\n<p>Although I start my day with a high motivation, it is inevitable to avoid occasional stressful situations: approaching final exams for school, deadlines for work, and major curveballs that are beyond my controls.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily, I have friends and family members who stand by my sides and make my days better with nice and warm hugs or with encouraging messages whenever I face roadblocks in my life.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5849\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/korean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2018\/07\/\ud798\ub0b4\uc138\uc694-338x350.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"338\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/korean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2018\/07\/\ud798\ub0b4\uc138\uc694-338x350.png 338w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/korean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2018\/07\/\ud798\ub0b4\uc138\uc694.png 634w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 338px) 100vw, 338px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Recently, I have sensed stress and often heard <span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud55c\uc228\u00a0<\/em><\/span>(sighs) from my friends as final exams are around the corner or because of whatever they are fighting for in their lives. One of my favorite phrases that keeps me and my friends going in Korean is, \u201c<span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud798\ub0b4\uc138\uc694<\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #808000\">!<\/span> [him-nae-se-yoo] <\/em>\u201d This phrase is equivalent to \u201ccheer up,\u201d \u201chang in there,\u201d and \u201ckeep going\u201d in English. If you are a big fan of Korean dramas, in many instances, you will notice characters in the shows saying\u00a0 \u201c<span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud798\ub0b4\uc138\uc694<\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #808000\">!<\/span> <\/em>\u201d to someone who feels stressed, overwhelmed, and nervous at times.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud798\ub0b4<\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #808000\">!<\/span>\u00a0 [him-nae] \u00a0<\/em>\u2013 \u00a0informal form of \u201ccheer up\u201d in Korean<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud798\ub0b4\uc138\uc694<\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #808000\">!<\/span>\u00a0 [him-nae-se-yoo]\u00a0 <\/em>\u2013 \u00a0polite form of \u201ccheer up\u201d in Korean<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud798\ub0b4\uc2ed\uc2dc\uc624<\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #808000\">!<\/span>\u00a0 [him-nae-ship-shi-oh]\u00a0 <\/em>\u2013 \u00a0formal \u00a0form of \u201ccheer up\u201d in Korean<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Besides \u00a0\u201c<span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud798\ub0b4\uc138<span style=\"color: #808000\">\uc694<\/span><\/em><em>! <\/em><\/span>\u201d Korean people also frequently use \u201c<span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud654\uc774\ud305\u00a0<\/em><\/span>[hwa-ee-ting]. \u201d \u201c<span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud654\uc774\ud305<\/em><\/span>\u201d originated from an English word \u201cfighting\u201d. Korean people oftentimes shout \u201c<span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud654\uc774\ud305<\/em><\/span>\u201d \u00a0to cheer for their favorite sport teams or to cheer someone up. You will also hear or read \u201c<span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud667\ud305\u00a0<\/em><\/span>[hwat-ting]\u201d which is a shorter version of \u00a0\u201c<span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud654\uc774\ud305<\/em><\/span>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Whenever you face a stumbling block in your journey to learn the Korean language, I want you to remember this Korean phrase, \u201c<span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud798\ub0b4\uc138\uc694<\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #808000\">!<\/span>\u201d <\/em>Learning a language is like learning to play an instrument. It takes time to master necessary skills.<\/p>\n<p>If you have someone who needs encouragement or motivation, why don\u2019t you try telling them \u201c<span style=\"color: #808000\"><em>\ud798\ub0b4\uc138\uc694<\/em><em>! <\/em><\/span>\u201d to brighten up their days? Everybody is fighting for something.
