{"id":84,"date":"2009-04-07T13:42:58","date_gmt":"2009-04-07T17:42:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/korean\/?p=84"},"modified":"2009-04-07T13:42:58","modified_gmt":"2009-04-07T17:42:58","slug":"country-language","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/korean\/country-language\/","title":{"rendered":"Country + Language"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re going to take a look at how to form words like &#8220;the Korean language&#8221; or &#8220;the Japanese language&#8221;.\u00a0 One way to do this is to add <strong>\uc5b4<\/strong> with the name of the country:<\/p>\n<p>Korea : <strong>\ud55c\uad6d<\/strong>.\u00a0 Korean language : <strong>\ud55c\uad6d\uc5b4<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Japan : <strong>\uc77c\ubcf8<\/strong>.\u00a0 Japanese language : <strong>\uc77c\ubcf8\uc5b4<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>China : <strong>\uc911\uad6d<\/strong>.\u00a0 Chinese language : <strong>\uc911\uad6d\uc5b4<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Italy : <strong>\uc774\ud0c8\ub9ac\uc544<\/strong>.\u00a0 Italian language : <strong>\uc774\ud0c8\ub9ac\uc544\uc5b4<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Spain : <strong>\uc2a4\ud398\uc778<\/strong>.\u00a0 Spanish language : <strong>\uc2a4\ud398\uc778\uc5b4<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the exception: <strong>\uc601\uc5b4<\/strong>.\u00a0 <strong>\uc601\uc5b4<\/strong> is the Korean word for the English language.\u00a0 Unfortunately, adding the country America with <strong>\uc5b4<\/strong> will not work.\u00a0 If you were to say <strong>\ubbf8\uad6d\uc5b4<\/strong>, (<strong>\ubbf8\uad6d<\/strong>\u00a0= America) you&#8217;ll be understood, but nonetheless it&#8217;s not correct.\u00a0 The <strong>\uc601<\/strong> actually comes from the word England, which is <strong>\uc601\uad6d<\/strong>.\u00a0 That being said, it&#8217;s also wrong to say <strong>\uc601\uad6d\uc5b4<\/strong>.\u00a0 Whether it&#8217;s British English, American English, Australian English, etc. it doesn&#8217;t matter.\u00a0 It&#8217;s all <strong>\uc601\uc5b4<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s another way to say &#8220;_______ language&#8221;.\u00a0 Add the country with the word <strong>\ub9d0.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Korea : <strong>\ud55c\uad6d<\/strong>.\u00a0 Korean language : <strong>\ud55c\uad6d \ub9d0<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Japan : <strong>\uc77c\ubcf8<\/strong>.\u00a0 Japanese language : <strong>\uc77c\ubcf8 \ub9d0<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>China : <strong>\uc911\uad6d<\/strong>.\u00a0 Chinese language : <strong>\uc911\uad6d \ub9d0<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Italy : <strong>\uc774\ud0c8\ub9ac\uc544<\/strong>.\u00a0 Italian language : <strong>\uc774\ud0c8\ub9ac\uc544 \ub9d0<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Spain : <strong>\uc2a4\ud398\uc778<\/strong>.\u00a0 Spanish language : <strong>\uc2a4\ud398\uc778 \ub9d0<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>And of course if you want to know how to say &#8220;English language&#8221; just use <strong>\uc601\uc5b4<\/strong>.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t use <strong>\ubbf8\uad6d \ub9d0 <\/strong>because it sounds uneducated to Korean ears.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re going to take a look at how to form words like &#8220;the Korean language&#8221; or &#8220;the Japanese language&#8221;.\u00a0 One way to do this is to add \uc5b4 with the name of the country: Korea : \ud55c\uad6d.\u00a0 Korean language : \ud55c\uad6d\uc5b4.
