Even if you aren\u2019t a fan of the sport, there\u2019s plenty to love about the World Cup. Much like the Olympics, it is an unparalleled opportunity to put aside political and social differences, root for your home team, and explore another country and culture. And when that country is Brazil, what\u2019s not to love? O<span style=\"color: #000000\">l\u00e9<\/span>! During our <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/language-news\/2014\/03\/18\/announcing_multilingual_madness_bracket_2014\/\">Multilingual Madness tournament<\/a>, we simply had you vote for your favorite languages. This time around, we\u2019re kickin\u2019 it up a notch (gosh, we\u2019re so punny!) <strong>In the World Cup of Languages, your job is to score points for a language <em>by learning it!<\/em><\/strong> Here\u2019s how it\u2019ll work:<\/p>\n<p>Starting Wednesday 6\/11, you will see a form at the bottom of this blog post. Fill out the form to receive an e-mail with further instructions on how to access <em>a free account <\/em>in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.transparent.com\/personal\/transparent-language-online.html\">Transparent Language Online<\/a> for the duration of the competition!<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve logged in to your free account, the game begins! You will have <em>full access<\/em> to all of our Transparent Language Online learning materials in any of the 32 qualifying languages. <strong>For every minute you spend logged in and learning a language, that specific language will receive <\/strong><strong>1 point! <\/strong>At the end of the Group Stage, the 2 languages from each Group with the most points will move on to the Round of 16, and the process starts over. The surviving Group members will face those of other Groups, bracket-style, in the same setup of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fifa.com\/worldcup\/matches\/\">FIFA World Cup\u2122 schedule.<\/a> If your language is still in the running, you can keep on learning and scoring points for your team! If your language was eliminated, you can add a new one to your account and keep playing along in support of another team.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Group Stage:<\/strong> Thursday 6\/12\u2014Friday 6\/27<\/li>\n<li><strong>Round of 16:<\/strong> Saturday 6\/28\u2014Wednesday 7\/2<\/li>\n<li><strong>Quarter-Finals:<\/strong> Thursday 7\/3\u2014Monday 7\/7<\/li>\n<li><strong>Semi-Finals:<\/strong> Tuesday 7\/8\u2014Friday 7\/11<\/li>\n<li><strong>Finals:<\/strong> Saturday 7\/12\u2014Sunday 7\/13<\/li>\n<li><strong>Winner declared on Monday 7\/14!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/language-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2014\/06\/World-Cup-Groups-2.png\" aria-label=\"World Cup Groups 2 682x1024\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2230 \"  alt=\"World Cup Groups (2)\" width=\"430\" height=\"645\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/language-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2014\/06\/World-Cup-Groups-2-682x1024.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, the winning language is determined by most minutes logged by you, our lovely language learners! But how do we pick a contest winner? When signing up, you\u2019ll be able to make your prediction of which language will win this year\u2019s World Cup of Languages. Make sure you pick wisely, because we\u2019ll be selecting <strong>an individual winner from the pool of entrants who guessed correctly! <\/strong>(Note that you can predict a winning language, but choose to learn a different language during the competition.
