{"id":3760,"date":"2015-11-30T07:38:56","date_gmt":"2015-11-30T12:38:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/language-news\/?p=3760"},"modified":"2020-10-01T14:26:13","modified_gmt":"2020-10-01T18:26:13","slug":"5-transparent-language-online-libraries-named-americas-star-libraries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/language-news\/2015\/11\/30\/5-transparent-language-online-libraries-named-americas-star-libraries\/","title":{"rendered":"5 Transparent Language Online Libraries Named America\u2019s Star Libraries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Library Journal recently announced <a href=\"http:\/\/lj.libraryjournal.com\/2015\/11\/managing-libraries\/lj-index\/class-of-2015\/americas-star-libraries-2015-top-rated-libraries#_\">the results<\/a> of their 8<sup>th<\/sup> Index of Public Library Service. <strong>Of the 7,663 libraries scored on the index, only 261 were named \u201cStar Libraries\u201d. We were thrilled to find 5 Transparent Language Online libraries among them!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The LJ Index was designed to acknowledge and promote public libraries in America. It also encourages libraries to self-evaluate, as all data is self-reported. The Index compares public libraries on four figures: circulation, library visits, program attendance, and public Internet computer use. Libraries are then organized by expenditure, compared to others in their spending range, and ranked accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>The top 30 libraries in each expenditure group are named the year\u2019s Star Libraries\u2014the first 10 receive 5 stars, the next 10 receive 4 stars, and the final 10 receive 3 stars. <strong>Among this year\u2019s recipients are 5 libraries with whom we are proud to work:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Arapahoe Library District (Englewood, CO)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Elmhurst Public Library (Elmhurst, IL)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Ramsey County Library (Shoreview, MN)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Seattle Public Library (Seattle, WA)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Snow Library (Orleans, MA)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Congratulations to each of you!<\/em> We know that libraries strive to provide a wide range of quality resources for their patrons.<\/p>\n<p>We work with public, academic, and special libraries worldwide to bring learning materials for more than 100 languages to their communities.
